My best friend and I met in high school, and we remained good friends through college. While I embarked on "life-defining" journeys, my friend didn't. But she had sorted hers already, and it didn't feel right to ramble about my shenanigans when she didn't share hers. As I saw her text now, two years later, I wondered if ghosting was the right way to end a 15-year friendship. After observing the same stagnant script of our meetings, I once asked her, "Why don't we have things to talk about?"

Meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy for the first time in five years, former President Donald Trump complained about his 2019 impeachment and said if re-elected he would work to end the Russia-Ukraine war with a deal “that’s good for both sides." Trump said the two leaders "have a very good relationship, and I also have a very good relationship, as you know, with [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin." During the July phone call, Trump asked Zelenskyy about opening an investigation into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. "It was a hoax, just a Democrat hoax, which we won," Trump said of the impeachment effort, with Zelenskyy standing by his side Friday. They last met in person when Trump was president, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in Sept. 2019.

Routh became animated when writing about Trump, and he frequently weighed in on US and global current events on social media. He even commented on the first assassination attempt on Trump, when the former president was wounded by a gunshot during a rally in Pennsylvania in July. According to Cernea, Routh described Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine as a “black and white… good versus evil” conflict. Hawaiian business owner Saili Levi told CNN he had paid Routh $3,800 up front to build a trailer for his business. Levi said when he asked Routh to improve the work via email, Routh ranted at him.

Trump launched into a free-wheeling speech on Friday, insulting President Joe Biden and spreading conspiracy theories about terrorists crossing the US border. But most notably, Trump ranted against key prosecution witness and his former lawyer Michael Cohen, risking another violation of the judge's orders in his hush-money case. Trump then accused Cohen of throwing him under the bus in a plea deal so Cohen could "get off" himself. New York CNN —The Donald Trump hush money trial is dragging reporters into uncomfortable territory and laying bare the complicated relationships journalists often have with sources. Michael Cohen, who continued to testify Thursday, invoked from the stand the names of several high-profile media figures, putting their relationships with the former Trump fixer in the spotlight. Cohen named The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman and MSNBC’s Katy Tur as reporters which he had established relationships with. And he spoke about having recorded dozens of phone calls with media figures, including former CNN boss Jeff Zucker. That reporters are playing a starring role in the trial is also a function of the Trump years.

Friends with older children told tales of university parent Facebook groups, which were filled with demands that the dining halls specially cook their child's food in avocado oil. But I then joined a few of the parent Facebook groups for my son's new school out of curiosity. I tried not to get sucked into helicopter parenting my college-age kid, but it was hard to let go during the transition. My husband begged me to stop, but I kept getting sucked into post after post and discovered new parent Facebook groups to join. I dipped back into the Facebook groups and saw parents' posts about finding sublets, how to obtain parking passes, and the best grocery stores near campus.

CNN —Rudy Giuliani was suspended from New York City radio station WABC and his talk show canceled after he flagrantly ignored orders not to discuss false 2020 election conspiracy theories, the station’s owner said Monday. In recent months, Giuliani was repeatedly directed to not make claims of electronic voting manipulation surrounding the 2020 election, John Catsimatidis, the billionaire GOP donor and owner of the radio station, said in a statement. “Guiliani has admitted repeatedly over the past few days that he agreed not to speak about Dominion,” Catsimatidis said. Last month, the far-right cable channel One America News settled with another voting technology company, Smartmatic, for its airing of false claims. Giuliani has also been criminally charged in Georgia and Arizona over lies related to overturning the 2020 presidential election.

An NPR spokeswoman told CNN the outlet “does not comment on individual personnel matters, including discipline.” Berliner did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment. Other NPR staffers publicly rejected Berliner’s assessment in social media posts. “Many things wrong w/terrible Berliner column on NPR, including not observing basic fairness,” NPR TV critic and media analyst Eric Deggans wrote. Donald J. Trump was minutes away from being grilled under oath by the New York attorney general and he was itching to talk. But his lawyer at the time, Ronald P. Fischetti, directed Mr. Trump to keep quiet. Mr. Fischetti warned Mr. Trump that he was risking perjury charges, and that he would come to regret it. Over the past year, he was indicted four times and faced three civil trials. YouTube, which is owned by Google, did not attend the hearing despite its status as one of the most popular platforms among teens. A dam burst last week on the right, and a wave of grotesque antisemitism poured out all over the internet. Some of these people worked for the right wing’s biggest names, including Tucker Carlson, Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump. On Nov. 3, Owens posted on social media, “No government anywhere has a right to commit a genocide, ever. And maybe he loves Israel and he loves America too.” Owens, he said, “is a bit more America first.
