Read previewThe jury in Donald Trump's criminal hush-money trial had a specific request before starting deliberations on Thursday — they asked to hear again what they described in a note as the judge's "rain metaphor" instruction. It advises a jury that they can infer that it's raining — by seeing someone's wet umbrella, for example — even if they don't see the rain themselves. The "rain metaphor," as the jury note called it, is often used by judges in jury instructions. AdvertisementOn Wednesday afternoon, they asked for the judge to read back roughly a half-hour of testimony. After the judge completed his recitation of the jury instructions, two of the court stenographers re-read portions of the testimony.

But all this begs the question: Does your dog need a coat? From high-fashion to high-performanceThere’s evidence of dog fashion and clothing throughout history — from the ancient Egyptians and 19th-century Paris dog boutiques to early 20th-century photographs of dogs wearing clothes. Prada's Re-Nylon puffer dog coat with hood comes in two colors and three sizes, $825 From PradaBut the transition from Fifth Avenue high-end and high fashion to high-performance and technical function has certainly accelerated in recent decades. Doberman Pinschers — along with sleek breeds like Greyhounds and Whippets — are prime candidates for dog coats because of their short hair, thin skin and minimal body fat. “Make sure the coat fits well for safety and they’re supervised while wearing the coat.

MILAN (AP) — Prada brought nature indoors as a backdrop for its 2024-25 fall and winter menswear collection meant to get humans outside. The new Prada collection, unveiled on the third day of Milan Fashion Week menswear previews Sunday, marked “the return of the seasons,’’ as a point of renewal of the spirit, co-creative director Miuccia Prada said backstage. Without falling into strict categories of office wear and outdoor wear, Prada said that the collection “was meant for going outside,” and spending time there, not just as a point of transit. Raf Simons, Prada’s co-creative director, said the collection referenced water in its many forms: the sea, rain, a stream, ice. Always political, the Prada collection references climate change, but without being explicit.

[1/3] Rescue workers take part in a rescue operation at a town submerged by typhoon Khanun in Daegu, South Korea, August 10, 2023. Yonhap via REUTERSSEOUL, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Heavy downpours continued to soak South and North Korea on Friday as tropical storm Khanun swept over the peninsula after pummelling Japan, putting Pyongyang on high alert for flood damage. The storm weakened into a tropical depression as it crossed into North Korea overnight, and military and ruling party officials were mobilised to minimise its impact on the country's fragile economy. In some parts of South Korea, cumulative rainfall has topped 400 mm (15.8 inches) since Thursday with maximum wind speeds of 126 km per hour (78 miles per hour), flooding villages, schools and roads. With a lack of infrastructure and deforestation exacerbating flood risks, North Korea has been bracing for the storm, scrambling to head off damage and salvage crops.

Moncler can inspire Golden Goose’s next step

MILAN, June 15 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Golden Goose may be close to laying another precious egg. Remo Ruffini’s brand could provide an inspiration for Golden Goose’s next step, or a solution. Golden Goose’s rapid growth makes it a good time for Permira to consider an exit, as reported by Bloomberg. On the same 14 times forward multiple as Moncler, Golden Goose would be worth 2.7 billion euros. Golden Goose’s next golden egg may land not far from home.

Signs of recovery may be emerging in China's luxury and consumer discretionary goods sectors, said an analyst from Bank of America, even as China released data showing consumer inflation at an 18-month low. "In terms of luxury high-end [consumption] — we're seeing quite strong recovery," said the bank's chief China equity strategist Winnie Wu. "On the lower end, the bubble tea, the Shabu Shabu, those hotpots — we're seeing good recovery." China's luxury market fell 10% in 2022, declining for the first time in five years, according to Bain & Company. Wu, however, maintained that a good overall recovery across China's consumer sector has yet to be seen.
Hazardous "forever chemicals" called PFAS are contaminating drinking water, food, and air. It may be impossible to completely avoid PFAS, but there are a few simple ways to reduce your exposure. A 2019 study found that people had lower PFAS levels in their blood after eating at home, and higher levels after eating fast food or at restaurants. A few types of water filters can diminish PFAS levels, though they may not completely remove the chemicals from the water. It was previously updated to reflect disagreements in the scientific community about the degree of PFAS exposure from Teflon.
If you bought a period underwear product made by Thinx, you may now be entitled to a refund thanks to a class-action lawsuit settlement announced in November. Plaintiffs in the suit accused Thinx of using — and not telling customers about — potentially harmful chemicals known as PFAS in the underwear. The company has agreed to provide up to an additional $1 million if needed to cover valid claims. As part of the settlement, Thinx denied all the allegations leveled by the plaintiffs, and asserted that the settlement is not an admission of guilt. Thinx customers may receive a $7 refund for each purchase of up to three pairs of Thinx Period Underwear reflected in Thinx’s records, or for which they provide a valid proof of purchase.
