Although Leslie has been chipping away at her student loan debt for about 15 years, she says it's been worth it in order to pursue her passion. Leslie used her DoorDash side hustle to help pay down her student loan debt. Leslie used her early DoorDash earnings to eliminate her car loan, then began throwing the rest at her remaining student loan balance. "It was really important that I got a lot of my student loan debt taken care of because then I was able to dedicate that back into myself and my health and my mental wellness," she says. Working toward a debt-free futureAlthough Leslie says her student loan debt is at a more manageable level, she plans to continue working part-time as a DoorDash delivery driver for now.

Although “The Buccaneers” comes with the literary pedigree of being based on Edith Wharton’s last, unfinished novel, the series so desperately wants to emulate “Bridgerton” that it almost makes your teeth ache, down to the mix of corsets and contemporary music. The result is a mildly watchable Apple TV+ series that proves, to quote Fred Allen, imitation is the sincerest form of streaming, too. Even so, everything feels a little too familiar, including the series’ hissable villain, hidden beneath a polished and presentable veneer. Consumed entirely on its terms, “The Buccaneers” works reasonably well as a soapy distraction for those willing to check their brains at the ballroom door. “The Buccaneers” premieres November 8 on Apple TV+.

ATLANTA (AP) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is considering a ban on certain hair-straightening chemicals that have been used by Black women for years and that research shows may increase the risk of uterine cancer. But Black hair stylists say such products — specifically the ones being looked at by the FDA, which contain formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing chemicals — have fallen out of favor, especially among younger generations. The possible rule would apply to both salon-grade and at-home products, FDA spokesperson Courtney Rhodes said. Pressley said in an Oct. 6 statement that the FDA's possible action is “a win for public health — especially the health of Black women." The risks for Black women could shift with better regulation of chemical hair straighteners, said Dr. Kimberly Bertrand, an author of the Boston University study.

The EEOC has sued a Hooters in North Carolina, accusing the restaurant of racial discrimination. Managers joked about the appearance of staff who were Black or had dark skin tones, the suit alleged. AdvertisementAdvertisementWhen the pandemic hit in March 2020, the restaurant laid off its roughly 43 Hooters Girls, the lawsuit said. The restaurant began recalling some of the Hooters Girls, and by about mid-May 2020, 13 of them had been asked to return to work, the lawsuit said. Prior to lockdown, 51% of the Hooters Girls at the restaurant were Black or dark-skinned, but of the workers who were recalled, only 8% were, the lawsuit said.

But the Blackswan members say most of the criticisms come from international observers, while Korean fans and artists have been largely supportive.

New York CNN —The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has sued a North Carolina Hooters restaurant for allegedly discriminating against Black or darker-skinned “Hooters Girls,” the federal agency announced Thursday. In March 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Greensboro, North Carolina, Hooters temporarily laid off around 43 employees, dubbed “Hooters Girls” by the restaurant chain. There was a “marked shift in the racial composition of the restaurant’s Hooters Girls workforce,” when employees were called back in, according to the EEOC release. The complaint also alleged that the darker-skinned Hooters Girls “experienced racial hostility and observed preferential treatment of White employees while employed at the restaurant” and received less-lucrative shifts. The Greensboro restaurant had no comment and directed CNN to the company’s public relations department.

A record-high share of Americans is taking on monthly car payments of $1,000 or more. Car payments exceed housing as the biggest expense for some Gen Zers and millennials. Last year, the median monthly rent payment in the US was roughly $1,000, according to the Federal Reserve. Sherbina said managing his high monthly car bill — in addition to his other living expenses — could be stressful. "Having this high of a car payment is both stressful and has some psychological impacts," he said.

Rep. Lauren Boebert has been making headlines for saying she'll be a "36-year-old grandmother." In 2009, she was in the local news for delivering her third son in a pickup truck. "Now that I think about it clearly, we should have left earlier," she wrote in her memoir. Boebert, who announced her 17-year-old son Tyler is about to have a son in April, explains how she delivered her third son, Kaydon, in her memoir "My American Life," released last year. After two "drama-free" deliveries, Boebert wrote that she and her midwife decided she could wait an hour before making the 20-minute drive to the hospital.
The ideal Costco packaging dimensions allow the company to ship, stock, and sell more efficiently. "If you walk through health and beauty, you will see a lot of [items] in that kind of envelope, so that is the very ideal Costco size." "Having $20,000 in high-end face cream on the pallet on the floor isn't good business," Carrier said. Big packaging lets suppliers ship a more manageable number of items to a Costco warehouse using the requisite pallet system. Carrier's company, Berkley, even specializes in helping Costco suppliers break a single tightly-packed container of imported goods into as many as ten trucks loaded with dozens of presentable palletized displays.

SHEFFIELD, England, Jan 7 (Reuters) - Premier League high-flyers Newcastle United were shocked by third-tier Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday as they suffered a 2-1 away defeat to crash out of the FA Cup in the third round. Newcastle, who sit third in the top flight, fell two goals behind as League One side Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass netted twice in the second half. "It's one of the proudest moments in my managerial career to date," Wednesday manager Darren Moore told the BBC. Newcastle manager Howe highlighted that he thought his team should've made the most of the chances they created. "We have to accept the defeat and Sheffield Wednesday battled for everything, as we did, but it wasn’t to be."
The universe won’t collapse because of what happens on a cooking show, but “America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation” is symptomatic of larger disturbances in the force of food TV—including creative stasis, casual shoplifting of ideas and the fact that too many borrowed ideas can spoil a perfectly presentable broth. The taste-test segment involves familiar brands available at a local supermarket and end in some surprising results. (Hershey’s wins the cocoa-powder faceoff again!) Among its “flaws” is a menu that’s anachronistically meat-centric and on-air talent who are on air because of their food knowledge, not their media training. Bridget Lancaster and Julia Collin Davison are the no-nonsense hosts-chefs; the taste-test guy, Jack Bishop , is reassuringly uncomfortable at being on TV at all; equipment assessor Adam Ried is burly, affable and you believe what he tells you.
