"The word 'value' has received a lot of airtime in the past few months," Josh Kobza, the CEO of Burger King parent company Restaurant Brands International , said on Thursday. Value for shareholdersA drive-through area of a Burger King restaurant in Peoria, Ill. Daniel Acker | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesCompanies aren't just thinking about offering value for customers — they're also thinking about shareholder value. For example, Burger King was one of the first chains to unveil a $5 value meal this summer. When its rivals followed suit with their own $5 discount deals, the Restaurant Brands chain didn't see any clear impact to its business. "There are actually some positives to the focus on value across the industry," Restaurant Brands' Kobza told CNBC.

For now, here's what we know — and what we don't know — about stem-cell therapy for knees. Bryan Johnson flew to the Bahamas to get MSC stem cells injected into his knees, hips, and shoulders — for about $16,500 per joint. Plus, even Sampson warns that young donor stem cells should not be seen as a quick fix or a panacea. Done with proper medical oversight, some studies have found no adverse effects from stem-cell treatments for various conditions. Botched stem-cell treatments can cause infection, blindness, and excessive cell growth, which can trigger the formation of tumors.

Casual-dining chains are gaining customers who have grown frustrated with higher fast-food prices, Darden Restaurants CEO Rick Cardenas said on Thursday. Chili's rolled out an ad campaign that calls out the Big Mac and other fast-food burgers for their prices. Dine Brands CEO John Peyton told CNBC in May that Applebee's has been leaning into deals to win over fast-food diners. The overall consumer price index rose 3.3% in that period. In particular, McDonald's has faced backlash from customers, social media users and even House Republicans for its higher prices.

CNN —Say what you want about Jennifer Lopez, but streaming algorithms surely love her, which accounts for her parade of recent movies – “The Mother” (Netflix), “Shotgun Wedding” (Amazon) and “Marry Me” (Peacock), all in the last two years. Add to that “Atlas,” a nonstop sci-fi action movie that basically gets the job done with a plot that recalls Disney’s “Big Hero 6,” just with a lot more cursing. Atlas must then team up with another AI robot (voiced by Gregory James Cohan) in order to survive. Netflix continues to lay down expensive bets on genre movies, with Zack Snyder’s two-part “Rebel Moon” among the more prominent recent examples. For her part, Lopez steps into a slightly different role – and wisely away from another rom-com – in her dual capacity as producer and star.

Applebee's and IHOP owner Dine Brands thinks its deals can lure away fast-food customers who have grown frustrated with menu prices. The company reported first-quarter earnings that fell short of Wall Street's estimates, and both Applebee's and IHOP's same-store sales shrank more than expected. As Applebee's leans into value with a slate of promotions that includes the return of Dollaritas, Dine Brands CEO John Peyton is confident that the chain can beat out the fast-food chains vying for its customers. Applebee's isn't the only casual-dining chain taking aim at McDonald's and the rest of the fast-food category. "It's top of mind for so many people, and it's because they've grown up with Applebee's," Peyton said.

As fast-food prices increase, customers are finding more value in chain restaurants. Chains like Chili's are rolling out deals and portion sizes that could best fast-food chains. Chili's new Big Smasher burger is the latest offensive move in the value wars.
