Sluggish salty snack sales have prompted questions about whether Ozempic and obesity treatments like Wegovy and Zepbound ae to blame. GLP-1 drugs have been cheered as an effective method to help patients with diabetes and obesity to manage their blood sugar levels, hunger and weight. Lieberman found that the temporary price reduction at Wal-Mart stores drove an increase in both the product's volume and sales, leading to the conclusion that snack sales were hurt by price pressures for consumers. "All said, the data suggests to us that the primary challenge facing the salty snack category is affordability and arguably not GLP-1s and evolving health & wellness trends as some people might opine," she wrote in the report. "The salty snack category raises prices faster than the rest of the grocery store, so we probably have more work to do to right-size the prices," he told CNBC in an interview.

But more damaging than the cringe of a tone-deaf tweet about diversity is when companies give up on the performance altogether. watch nowWhen Jerry Jones plunked down $150 million to buy the Dallas Cowboys in 1989, the team was losing $1 million a month, according to Jones. The Cowboys are the most profitable in the NFL, posting EBITDA of $550 million last season, $300 million more than the New England Patriots, the second-most profitable NFL team, according to CNBC's list. In 1995, Jones signed a 10-year, $40 million deal with Pepsi-Cola and made a $2.5 million a year, 10-year deal with Nike. The value of the Cowboys' sponsorship deals has ballooned over the years. CNN —Nvidia, the AI chipmaking titan that was briefly the world’s most valuable company, has suddenly found itself in an unfamiliar position: a major rut. Nvidia (NVDA) had the worst day in the history of the stock market Tuesday, as measured by loss in total market value. To put that shocking decline into context, only 27 companies on the planet are worth as much as Nvidia lost in value Tuesday. That’s why bulls like Wedbush’s Dan Ives believe Nvidia’s stock decline presents a buying opportunity. – CNN’s Ramishah Maruf contributed to this reportCorrection: Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly described TSMC's relationship with Nvidia.

Richard Branson's "most notable failure" taught him an important lesson: There's value in always seeing yourself as an underdog, the billionaire entrepreneur recently told TED's "Work Life with Adam Grant" podcast. He learned from one such experiment that "backfired horribly," he told Grant: Virgin Cola, a soda that Branson's Virgin Group launched in 1994. After some success in the U.K., the company decided to expand its presence to the U.S. and challenge Coca-Cola and Pepsi, Branson told NPR in 2017. Then, Virgin Cola began disappearing from store shelves, Branson told NPR. Virgin Cola quietly shuttered years later, when Branson realized the drink was only No.

But one narrative has quickly taken hold in parts of the right-wing media ecosystem: The security failure was the result of workforce diversity initiatives and women working as Secret Service agents. Matt Walsh, a far-right media personality, wrote a series of posts on the social media platform X assailing the notion of women working as Secret Service agents. “There should not be any women in the Secret Service. “Female agents were also among those guarding Trump’s armored SUV as it prepared to depart the scene,” said Campbell. Associations that represent women in law enforcement reacted to the unfounded attacks on female agents with disappointment and alarm.

Read previewThe US Secret Service has come under intense scrutiny following a fatal shooting that left former President Donald Trump wounded at his rally Saturday night. As news of the shooting was still breaking, notable figures were quick to question the Secret Service and its leadership following the shooting. Matt Shoemaker, a former intelligence officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency, went as far as calling the shooting a "major failure" of the Secret Service. Representatives for the Secret Service were not present at the press conference to respond to questions about the incident. Trump's campaign, as well as the Republican National Committee, have indicated the party's planned convention in Milwaukee this week will proceed following the rally shooting.

Pepsi now expects organic revenue growth of approximately 4%, a more cautious outlook than its previous forecast of at least 4%. The company reiterated its guidance for core constant currency earnings growth of at least 8%. Frito-Lay North America's volume declined 4%, while Pepsi's North American beverage unit saw volume shrink 3%. Executives said volume for Pepsi's North American drinks has improved sequentially, signaling that its attempts to lure back shoppers have begun working.

As food inflation rose over the last few years, companies like PepsiCo have been able to push through price increases to retailers and consumers — and then some. Food inflation has increased at a steady pace over the last few months. While PepsiCo is one of the largest food manufacturers in the world, it's far from alone in hiking prices. McMullen told investors last month he expects more discounts coming from national brands this year. Of course, national brands have been bragging about strong profits in recent years, which would suggest they're now in a position to offer discounts and promotions without breaking the bank.

Currently, a 40% federal estate tax applies to estate values topping $13.61 million for individuals and $27.22 million for married couples. When someone dies, their heirs have nine months to file a federal estate tax return if their inheritance meets those minimums. Here's how a Graegin loan could work in practice, according to Doyle:Related storiesHeirs of a $10 million estate could be on the hook for $4 million in federal estate taxes. The taxable estate is $1 million less, which means the family will save $400,000 in estate taxes considering the 40% tax rate. More households will be on the hook for estate taxes, and loans to pay them could become more popular.
