New York CNN —Ticketmaster is linking arms with right-wing extremists, boosting their ability to reach mainstream audiences and profiting off their dangerous and hateful rhetoric ahead of the November election. That is because there is not a morsel of truth to how Ticketmaster is presenting Carlson to its customers. How can any decent person not only participate in enabling Carlson’s poisoning of the public discourse but also justify profiting off of his hateful rhetoric in the process? CNN also posed questions to the venues hosting Carlson, which include the Honda Center, T-Mobile Center, Delta Center, Dickies Arena, Intrust Bank Arena and others. Those uncomfortable decisions risk catapulting them squarely into the center of the information wars, where grifters like Carlson thrive.

As part of an ongoing series in which I review Trader Joe's seasonal products, I gave the chain's summer offerings a try. No frozen treat is complete without one of Trader Joe's organic sugar conesThis sugar cone paired well with Trader Joe's peach-crisp ice cream. As my experience is with most Trader Joe's salad kits, I think it also could've used a lot more dressing.

Perhaps the last thing the market needs is another shady financial product that pushes low-income Americans into homes they can’t afford, under terms that could bankrupt them. The zero-down mortgage is making a comeback, my colleague Matt Egan reports. And honestly, when has the value of the housing market ever gone anywhere but up up up up? The housing market, as we all remember from “The Big Short,” does not always go up. One way for motivated buyers to hunt for a lower mortgage rate is buy someone else’s.

NOVA separates foods into four groups, starting with natural and minimally processed foods in the first category to ultraprocessed foods, which use industrial formulations and manufacturing techniques, in the fourth. Here are five things to know about ultraprocessed foods:Ultraprocessed foods are linked to bad health outcomesEating a lot of ultraprocessed foods isn’t healthy. We have one.”Ultraprocessed foods cause weight gainThat one randomized, controlled clinical trial showed that ultraprocessed foods actually caused people to gain weight. So, all those factors probably play a huge role in … the foods that we choose to eat in the real world.”Not all ultraprocessed foods are badSome ultraprocessed foods can provide important nutrients, such as whole wheat bread and yogurt. “Which goes to show that not all ultraprocessed foods necessarily drive this effect.”Hall’s team is conducting a new study to tease out which ultraprocessed foods are harmful and which are neutral, or even healthy.

I think Jensen deserves one day a year when he can trace out a vision without a per share attached to it. Sure, plenty of people in line Saturday would, correctly I think, say to "own it, don't trade it." Sure, I was sweating "own it, don't trade it." Read previewThe year of the chicken nugget (2017) and the chicken sandwich wars (2019) might have paved the way for fried chicken's latest role: star of a Netflix show. Next month, the streaming giant is releasing a bizarrely fun-looking comedy based on a Korean web cartoon called, fittingly, "Chicken Nugget." 🐣 Premiering March 15 pic.twitter.com/syGYVrzZS7 — Netflix (@netflix) February 15, 2024The premise of "Chicken Nugget" is silly, of course — but the show underscores the bird's soaring global popularity. And in the early 1960s, a renowned Cornell University professor engineered one of the Ivy League's greatest contributions to humanity: the frozen chicken nugget. It's unclear if the young woman in the forthcoming Netflix series turns into a particular flavor of chicken nugget.

The pomp, the glamour, the conflicts, the characters: When it comes to Britain's royal family, Americans can't seem to get enough. That was evident this week following the announcement of King Charles III's treatment for cancer. They're references for power and prestige, like Aretha Franklin as the “Queen of Soul” or the administration of John F. Kennedy as Camelot. There was a social and cultural element as well: In the 19th century, some rich Americans would find husbands for their daughters among the British aristocracy. And of course, the 20th century has plenty of examples of music, television, etc., that traveled between the two societies.

Jesse L. Martin Is Watching You

Jesse L. Martin can tell when you’re lying. “There’s also intense eye contact,” he said, demonstrating this across a low table in the bar of a downtown hotel last week. Martin, 55, plays Alec Mercer, a professor of behavioral science at a fictional university. He solves each week’s case by applying one or more behavioral science concepts — the halo effect, the Barnum effect, paradoxical persuasion. Almost pathologically observant, Alec is based on Dan Ariely, a superstar in the field of behavioral science, and Martin has absorbed a morsel of those powers.

I thought taking my childhood friend on a trip for New Year's Eve would be a good idea. I decided to end the friendship after the trip. So the three of us went on the trip together, but bitter arguments led to a friendship breakup. The trip started out great, and we all got alongDriving up to Andorra felt like something out of a movie. Until that point during the trip, every conversation would lead back to him, and as her best friend, I felt comfortable enough to give insight.

Investors betting on a soft landing for the U.S. economy received another morsel of good news on Wednesday. Fresh data showed that the U.S. economy grew at a 5.2% annual rate , the fastest quarterly growth rate since late 2021, when the country was listing Covid-19 restrictions. Hopes that the U.S. economy can avoid a recession--and that the Federal Reserve will slash interest rates next year --have been rippling through global markets. Stocks are rising in early trading, continuing a weekslong winning streak. Now solidly below 13, the VIX is trading near its lowest levels of this year.

On Monday, I contacted the major news organizations that amplified Hamas’ claims, which immediately assigned blame to Israel for the blast that it said had left hundreds dead. Those organizations included CNN, the Associated Press, Reuters, Al Jazeera, and The Wall Street Journal. Since the explosion, one week ago Tuesday, Israel and the U.S. have assessed that the rocket originated in Gaza, not Israel. A CNN spokesperson declined to comment specifically on the online story when reached Monday. (I should note that Grueskin didn’t believe that The Times’ note went far enough, questioning, among other things, why it took almost a week to issue its mea culpa.)

Dished up by 3D printers, a new kind of fish to fry
  + stars: | 2023-05-03 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +3 min
An Israeli foodtech company says it has 3D printed the first ever ready-to-cook fish fillet using animal cells cultivated and grown in a laboratory. Israel's Steakholder Foods has now partnered with Singapore-based Umami Meats to make fish fillets without the need to stalk dwindling fish populations. Steakholder Foods then adds them to a 'bio-ink' suited for special 3D printers. It has the flakiness of traditional fish and when fried and seasoned it is hard to tell the difference. "The number of scientists, you can imagine, working on fish stem cell biology is a small fraction of those working on animal cells and human cells."

With so much personal data floating publicly on the internet, consumers have a legitimate interest in controlling the information flow. Self-help tools to remove personal informationFor those who are so inclined, there are ways to limit the amount of personal information available on the internet. If that fails, Google says it may remove personal information "that creates significant risks of identity theft, financial fraud, or other specific harms." It can be hard to gauge the effectiveness of these services, partly because there's so much personal information in the public domain. DeleteMe's website says that 2,389 pieces of personal information, on average, are found over a two-year subscription.

DoorDash puts profit on the menu

NEW YORK, Nov 30 (Reuters Breakingviews) - DoorDash (DASH.N) is taking the same route as its technological peers. Top-line growth, which has been the main course at DoorDash and elsewhere, will be relegated to a side dish. Costs also ballooned, however, and DoorDash accumulated a $3.2 billion deficit from operating losses as of Sept. 30. DoorDash has outpaced rival Uber Technologies (UBER.N), growing its U.S. market share to roughly 60%, per consumer data analyst Bloomberg Second Measure. The strong position should help Xu tweak the menu and serve up what investors are ordering.
In Asia, Japan's manufacturing activity is shrinking at its fastest pace in two years, flash estimates showed. Investors will be paying close attention to the PMI reports for most other Asian countries - including economic heavyweights China, South Korea and India - due out on Dec. 1. Like stocks, regional FX markets are enjoying a period of relative calm as weaker U.S. inflation readings have weighed on the dollar. Investors will be hoping for more consolidation and calm on Friday, leaving the potential PMI fireworks for next week. They do not reflect the views of Reuters News, which, under the Trust Principles, is committed to integrity, independence, and freedom from bias.
But some consumer advocates and doctors worry that those supplements don't have as many benefits as people think. "Our gummy vitamins have been on fire," CEO Matt Farrell told investors in a July earnings call. He said that Hero Nutritionals, founded in 1995, created the first gummy vitamin for the American market. A Perrigo representative said it no longer manufactured gummy vitamins, and it did not respond to further inquiries.) But the doctor had something to admit: He takes a gummy vitamin every day.
