Proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis on Thursday recommended that shareholders of Masimo , the medical technology firm best known for its Apple Watch patent litigation, elect dissident Politan's two nominees, Bill Jellison and Darlene Solomon. Masimo's board includes Kiani, former Disney CEO Bob Chapek and Politan managing member Quentin Koffey, who overwhelmingly won the election last year. Glass Lewis tacitly endorsed that criticism in its report, writing that the company displayed "de minimus responsibility" and "poor governance." Alongside its larger peer Institutional Shareholder Services, though, Glass Lewis reports are considered highly important to passive investors. Glass Lewis responded to RTW with an offer to meet on July 8, shortly after Politan's allegations were publicized in an SEC filing.

A Trump fraud-trial witness's possible perjury should not delay a verdict, NY officials argue. They say it's "hardly surprising" if Trump co-defendant Allen Weisselberg lied on the stand. Weisselberg "lacks credibility" anyway, the officials, from the NY AG's office, wrote Wednesday. "If true, he should be held to account fully for his actions," Wallace wrote of Weisselberg. AdvertisementThe Trump defense team's response to the Weisselberg perjury matter was filed just in time for the judge's 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline.

"Dear Counselors," the fraud-trial judge, state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, begins an acidly-worded email he sent Monday. After all, he notes, he is the fraud trial's "presiding magistrate, the trier of fact, and the judge of credibility." Lawyers for his co-defendants in the lawsuit — the Trump Organization, eldest sons Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump, Weisselberg and another longtime Trump Org executive, Jeffrey McConney — have also denied wrongdoing. The settlement Fox News may pay to Smartmatic could be around $1 billion, experts say. Disney's $177 million settlement for the infamous "pink slime" lawsuit in 2017 dropped to second place. Experts told Insider that the $787.5 million settlement is a strong benchmark for Smartmatic — and that Smartmatic will likely get more. Either way you slice it, using those baseline numbers brings you above the $787.5 million figure Fox paid to settle Dominion's lawsuit. "It's hard to extrapolate from the Dominion case in part because it never got litigated," Hans said.

A shopper carries a bag of Nike merchandise along the Magnificent Mile shopping district on December 21, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois. WASHINGTON — A House committee examining the U.S. government's economic relationship with China is asking some of the world's largest clothing companies for information about the use of forced labor during production — a potential violation of U.S. trade law. Lawmakers asked retailers Temu, Shein, Nike and Adidas North America about the use of materials and labor sourced from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous region of China, according to letters sent to company leaders on Tuesday. Such practices would constitute violations of the 2021 Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, according to the lawmakers. The inquiries also follow a March hearing of the committee that included an expert assessment finding that U.S. companies finance "state-sponsored forced labor programs in the Uyghur region."
A simple focus on what is now a well-known phenomenon helped Mario Gabelli execute what he calls some of the best trades in his decades-long career. One of those companies, Chris-Craft, was eventually bought by News Corp. for $5.5 billion in the early 2000s. It was an investment on which Gabelli said he made at least 10 times his original stake. The other money-making trade, on the now defunct Lin Broadcasting, was one Gabelli said he made a "significant amount of money" on. "It basically became EBITDA minus capex, and that notion has gotten pretty far along in the last 40 years," he said.
For golfers, “nice butt” is at least as pleasing a compliment as “nice putt.” That’s because strong glutes are vital for a solid golf swing. The three muscles that make up the rear end—the gluteus minimus, medius and maximus—help move the hip joint and stabilize the pelvis.
