Hundreds of mutual funds and hedge funds overlap in their investments, creating some shared favorites between the two different investment vehicles, according to Goldman Sachs. This basket of stocks—which includes Danaher , Mastercard , Vertiv and Uber —are constituents of both Goldman's Hedge Fund VIP and Mutual Fund Overweight baskets. "Hedge funds and mutual funds have boosted exposures to equities this year, with hedge fund net leverage rising near its highest level over the past year and mutual fund cash balances dropping to record lows. Visa shares are up about 4.6% for the year, lifted by stronger-than-expected earnings in the fiscal second quarter. You've heard this one before: A big tech company is offering a lifeline to distressed media companies. That's the argument against a slew of deals publishers have been making with Sam Altman's OpenAI over the past few months. But the OpenAI deals, the publishers emphasize, are straightforward licensing deals for stuff they're already making. AdvertisementWhich means — they say — at the end of these deals, publishers won't have to regret investing in another defunct Big Tech project. But the thing I'm most worried about as someone who makes words for a living isn't a replay of the old Facebook/Apple/Google deals publishers now regret.

In a statement to Business Insider, an OpenAI spokesperson reiterated the company's commitment to safety, highlighting an "anonymous integrity hotline" for employees to voice their concerns and the company's safety and security committee. Safety second (or third)A common theme of the complaints is that, at OpenAI, safety isn't first — growth and profits are. (In a responding op-ed, current OpenAI board members Bret Taylor and Larry Summers defended Altman and the company's safety standards.) "I have been disagreeing with OpenAI leadership about the company's core priorities for quite some time, until we finally reached a breaking point." The incredible oblivion of Judge Marvin Isgur
  + stars: | 2024-06-03 | by ( Dakin Campbell | ) www.businessinsider.com   time to read: +45 min
On a mild Houston day in March 2021, Judge Marvin Isgur prepared to oversee the only case on his docket that morning. In October 2023, the Fifth Circuit Court rebuked Judge David Jones but said that his longtime colleague, Judge Marvin Isgur, had been "unaware" of Jones' inappropriate relationship. "But only Judge Isgur knows what he knew or didn't know about the relationship." Much of this work was in cases before either Judge Isgur or Judge Jones. Isgur can continue to hear the case, he ruled, writing in the December 2023 opinion that lawyers for the creditor "failed to demonstrate much other than that former Judge Jones and Judge Isgur are close friends."

Utility stocks are an affordable way to gain exposure to the artificial intelligence trend and hedge against a slowing economy even after the sector's recent rally, according to Goldman Sachs. Yet, utility stocks still remain relatively affordable. Goldman is forecasting above consensus earnings growth of 2% on average in 2026 for the 16 utility stocks it covers. NextEra , Xcel Energy , Sempra and Southern Company offer the best exposure to the data center power demand surge among Goldman's buy-rated stocks, according to the bank. "However, a return to a rising bond yield environment could weigh on the performance of utilities," the Goldman analysts said.

CNN —It’s easy to take the moon for granted as a silvery orb in the night sky, providing a soft light on most evenings. The new system of measurement that NASA and its international partners need to agree on will have to account for the fact that seconds tick by faster on the moon. But it will be crucial for astronauts living in lunar habitats and scooting around in moon buggies who need to know exactly what time it is.
