CNN —Rapper, reality TV star, and entrepreneur Flavor Flav has joined the US women’s water polo team in the pool for a splash about ahead of this summer’s Olympics. The musician donned swim shorts and an official USA Water Polo cap – removing his trademark clock medallion poolside – as he chanted “USA, USA” before getting into the water on Tuesday. Flav, who recently signed a sponsorship deal to be the “official Hype Man for USA Water Polo Women’s and Men’s National Teams,” said he felt like an Olympian wearing the cap. “It’s great because what water polo needs, and what a lot of these niche sports need, is someone to open the door to our sport. CNN —Gregg Berhalter has been fired as the head coach of the United States men’s national soccer team following the squad’s Copa America elimination, the US Soccer Federation announced on Wednesday. Berhalter, initially hired in 2018, led the team to the knockout stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In June 2023 he was given a new contract that was to run through the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup. The poor performance piled pressure on Berhalter, with critics questioning whether he still was the right person to lead the team heading into the 2026 World Cup. The men’s team is next scheduled to play on September 7 in an international friendly against Canada at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City.

CNN —Reigning world champion Simone Biles will become the fourth American woman gymnast to compete in three Olympic Games after placing first in the all-around competition at the 2024 US Olympic Gymnastics Trials Sunday in Minneapolis. Biles started her night on the vault, posting a score of 15.500. Her second rotation of the night - the uneven bars - showed Biles’ consistency, as she finished with a score of 14.200. Like on night one of the competition, Biles was shaky on the beam - her third rotation. In Paris, Biles’ first opportunity to add to her haul of seven Olympic medals will be the women’s team final on July 30, two days before the all-around final.
