CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday told investors it's a good idea to buy Costco , whose earnings on Thursday beat Wall Street's expectations but the stock still slipped in extended trading. "And if Costco keeps falling, just keep buying more, because there's nothing else like this company — never will be." Cramer said he's confident about the big-box retailer's path to success and isn't worried about its recent change in management. Costco has a new CEO in Ron Vachris and a new finance chief, Gary Millerchip. Cramer added that he thinks Millerchip, who previously served as the chief financial officer of Kroger, is a solid executive.

Costco has multiple levers of growth at its disposal, which should lead to a further boost in the stock even after its already impressive year-to-date gains. But the business experience in the retail health clinic space has largely disappointed. Walmart and the problem of volume vs. priceIn 2019, Walmart announced a bold initiative to open 4,000 in-store health clinics by 2029. "Primary health care is a low margin business," said Arielle Trzcinski, a principal analyst covering health care at research firm. "Compared to what they see in traditional retail, health care is a fundamentally different business," Trzcinski said, citing the challenges of navigating insurance companies and administrative burdens that health care brings. In-store health clinics can be profitable and viable, and retailers are experimenting with piecemeal approaches tailored to the local market.

But the perfect (and very profitable) pairing of today wasn’t always the case: For many years, movie theaters wanted nothing to do with the snack. People watch movies in a newly reopened AMC River East theater on Aug. 20, 2020, in Chicago. Popular movies often bring collectible cups and popcorn buckets, or, in industry-speak, Collectible Concession Vehicles (CCVs). The cinema business will continue to evolve, but one thing will remain constant, said Gil of Queen’s University. “Theaters will stop playing movies before they will actually stop selling popcorn.”

Justin Sullivan/Getty ImagesCondiment prices saw a sharper jump with ketchup rising 8.9%, hot sauce increasing 7.6% and regular barbecue sauce spiking 14.6%. But the increases don’t take into account the year’s many Memorial Day deals. Landing a data analyst job helped me achieve the life I had dreamed ofI started looking at job boards and saw a ton of data analyst positions, with an average starting salary of around $70,000, in 2018. I don't feel that working in Big Tech is worth itWhen people think about working a tech job, many think of Big Tech companies like Tesla and Meta, which offer the highest salaries and have a certain air of prestige. Although they might not be quite as high as Big Tech roles, the salaries at non-tech companies can be super competitive, especially if you focus on non-tech companies in the Fortune 500. When you apply for tech jobs at non-tech companies, you're not competing against people who are trying to be the best in the world. AdvertisementI advise anyone hoping to land their first data analyst job at a non-tech company to start looking at their current job as an asset and find where it overlaps with data analyst jobs.

Usually, at the US TV upfronts — the annual event where the networks showcase their best upcoming programming in the hopes of securing big advertising commitments — the celebrities are the stars of the show. On Tuesday, the big-box retailer said it will roll out a private label called BetterGoods, a line of more trend-and chef-driven foods. "The timing of the Strike Force announcement, in an election year, raises the likelihood that political motivations rather than the interests of American consumers drove the action," House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said in the letter. The Strike Force is jointly led by the FTC and the Department of Justice, which have been at the front lines of the Biden administration's regulatory agenda over the past several years. Comer alleged in the letter that "this pattern" of blaming corporate-pricing practices for inflation "signals that the new FTC-DOJ Strike Force will be used as a political tool." But Biden's logic that companies are the ones responsible for high prices, not his economic agenda, could be taking hold with voters. A March survey found that respondents blamed recent price hikes on "large corporations taking advantage of inflation" more than Democratic policies.

The rapid rise and fall of ghost kitchens

Ghost kitchens are restaurants with no storefront and no seating that customers never see and which only do delivery. Several influencers and celebrities have used ghost kitchens to produce their own lines of food, like YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, known online as Mr. AdvertisementAnd as quality issues and late delivery times worsen, some ghost kitchens are starting to see legal challenges. Cracker Barrel also opened its own virtual restaurant using CloudKitchens, another ghost kitchen group, according to Restaurant Business. To see the impact of higher inflation and higher interest rates on companies, just look at the earnings release for CarMax this morning. For example, higher rates are generally bad for REITs beause REITs rely on debt financing. Higher rates also mean increased borrowing costs for utilities, which carry a lot of debt because they use a lot of capital. The problem is, energy and material stocks have already been rising due to higher oil and a still strong economy. Other potential beneficiaries of higher rates with a strong economy are defensive stocks, which tend to be less interest rate sensitive, like Kroger or Walmart .

Advertising tech companies are rushing to move away from third-party cookies. They're also developing new products for hot areas like streaming TV and retail media. With big challenges like the death of third-party cookies and new opportunities from areas like retail media and streaming TV, adtech companies are in a race for the industry's top talent. And they're hoping to cash in on the rise of retail media from the likes of Amazon, Walmart, and Kroger. They're also aiming to solve for cookieless advertising as Google's Chrome browser removes third-party cookies used for targeting and measuring digital ads, and they're developing next-generation generative AI tools.
