Over the past few years, the country has attracted billions of dollars in data center investments, including from tech giants like Google , Nvidia and Microsoft . Data center capacity is typically measured by the amount of electricity it consumes. Until then, Japan followed by Singapore currently lead the region in terms of live data center capacity. The index did not provide a detailed breakdown of data center capacity in China. Kenanga Investment Bank Research estimates that potential electricity demand from data centers in Malaysia will hit a total maximum demand of 5 GW by 2035.

CNN —A two-day summit in Switzerland dedicated to forging a path forward to end the war in Ukraine concluded with key powers spurning a joint communique agreed to by more than 80 other countries and international organizations. The world cares deeply about the war provoked by Russia’s aggression,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said. The sides also said that all children and civilians that were unlawfully displaced must be returned to Ukraine. And Ukraine must disarm so that is vulnerable to future Russian aggression down the road. No responsible nation could say that is a reasonable basis for peace,” Sullivan said.

“It’s a bit like God’s waiting room.”But Clacton is the front line of Britain’s migration debate. The Reform leader uses divisive language on migration, warning supporters of what he calls an "invasion" of asylum seekers. Despite years of tough rhetoric and policies aimed at deterring the arrival of asylum seekers – devised largely to placate Farage’s supporters – Britain’s asylum system is creaking. Laws prevent most asylum seekers from working, so while taxpayers fund their accommodation, they cannot contribute formally to the economy. That could widen even further the chasm in understanding between his voters and Britain’s asylum seekers, experts fear.

Four years ago, after officials in Grand Prairie, Texas, were pitched an idea to turn the city’s underused minor league ballpark into a stadium for cricket, the city’s manager, Bill Hills, thumbed through a copy of “Cricket for Dummies.”Like most Americans, Mr. Hills was oblivious to cricket, although that is starting to change. Last year, the 7,200-seat stadium in Grand Prairie became the new home of the Texas Super Kings, one of six teams that played in the inaugural season of Major League Cricket. A few days later, more than 34,000 cricket fans watched India narrowly beat Pakistan at a temporary stadium built in Long Island. When Los Angeles hosts the 2028 Summer Olympics, cricket will be among the new sports being played. That includes backers of Major League Cricket franchises hatching plans for dedicated cricket stadiums in their own cities.

There's another possibility, however: Someone who knows how to use AI — and who's based abroad — will come for your job. And it's not just learning about AI, but learning from AI. AI is also making it cheaper to bring lessons on AI and other topics to people in languages other than English. The three-day holiday of Eid-al-Adha commemorates the story in the Quran of God appearing to Ibrahim, or Abraham, in a dream and commanding him to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience. Muslims believe that as Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, an angel of God stopped him and gave him a ram to sacrifice in place of his son. Many people kick off the holiday by calling and texting Muslims they know throughout the world with “Eid Mubarak,” which means blessed feast or festival. Here are some mindful takeaways from the Eid holiday that you can include in your routine – no matter what you believe in. It sounds like a miraculous happening, but when applied to daily life, one can view it as doing one’s work and trusting that things fall into place.

The leaders of the Group of 7 countries will share the stage on Friday with leaders from India, Brazil, Turkey and other non-Western countries, showcasing a shifting global landscape on the second day of their summit meeting. Among the thorny questions on the agenda: migration, which has helped fuel a recent resurgence of populism and far-right parties in Europe and the United States. The leaders will also discuss economic competition with China, security in the Indo-Pacific and relations between the West and the countries known collectively as the Global South, which broadly includes Latin America, Africa and much of the Middle East and Asia. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, who is hosting the meeting, said the goal of her expanded guest list was to “strengthen dialogue with the nations of the Global South.” She insisted that the Group of 7 was “not a fortress closed in itself,” but “an offer of values that we open to the world.”Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of japan also emphasized the importance of strengthening relations with partners beyond the group, in particular the Global South, as the world faces challenges like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the war between Israel and Hamas, which threatens to spread to Lebanon.

The head of OPEC said Thursday the world will need to invest in fossil fuels for decades to come in order to prevent an energy shortage, dismissing predictions that oil demand will peak in the near future. The OPEC chief called for "continued oil industry investment, today, tomorrow, and many decades into the future given the products derived from crude oil are essential for our daily lives." Oil supply capacity will rise to 114 million per day by 2030, 8 million barrels more than global demand, according to the IEA. Deutsche Bank and Citi, however, see OPEC coming under pressure in the coming years. Citi analysts see a substantial oil surplus in 2025 as production keeps growing in North America, Brazil and Guyana, while demand slows due to energy efficiency improvements and electric vehicle adoption.

As leaders from the Group of 7 nations gather this week in southern Italy, they will be joined by representatives from countries at the center of international conflict, from developing nations like Brazil and India, and, for the first time, from the Holy See. Pope Francis, the Vatican announced, will take part in a discussion on Friday on the ethical implications of artificial intelligence at a session that is open to envoys from countries that are not G7 members. The Vatican said Pope Francis would also have bilateral conversations with some of the visiting leaders, including President Biden and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The reports last month prompted a backlash among L.G.B.T.Q. people, toward which the pope had generally adopted a more welcoming approach.

The spotlight has seemingly shifted in the past year toward companies going to market, hoping to ride on the coattails of India's growth story. Growing foreign listingsThe allure of India's stock markets has trickled to companies beyond its shores — with foreign entities eyeing a share of its growth. Such listings add strength to India's markets, says M&G Investment's Asian Equities Portfolio Manager Vikas Pershad. The optimism on India's IPO boom is sometimes marred by concerns over elevated valuations of its stock market — and whether it is headed toward a bubble. "When we look at India, we see continued economic and earnings per share growth and higher levels of profitability," Dorson from Global X told CNBC's Inside India.

Here, America no longer presents itself as the confident guarantor of security, a trust-us-we’ve-got-this superpower. The terrain is too vast, China’s rise too great a threat. So the United States has been offering to be something else — an eager teammate for military modernization and tech development. “In the past, our experts would talk about a hub-and-spokes model for Indo-Pacific security,” Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Every year, as the leaders of the world’s wealthiest large democracies gather for a summit, the same questions arise: What exactly is the summit for, and why does the group matter? The leaders, along with representatives of the European Union and selected guests, meet to discuss economic issues and major international policies. This year the summit’s host, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, has also invited other figures including Pope Francis and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. Whatever the leaders’ disagreements on the issues, one feature of the summits tends to be a shared overall outlook. They also share broadly similar views on trade, security and human rights, giving them enormous influence when they act in concert.
