Follow live updates on the 2024 election. Mr. Trump also flashed frustration when asked about the size of Ms. Harris’s crowds while boasting about the attendance at his own rally on Jan. 6, 2021, and insisted that the group of hundreds that stormed the Capitol was relatively small. But he fixated on the size of the crowd that he initially gathered on the national mall, making comparisons to — and declaring it was larger than — the one drawn by Martin Luther King Jr. for his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. “Nobody’s spoken to crowds bigger than me,” Mr. Trump said. “If you look at Martin Luther King, when he did his speech, his great speech, and you look at ours — same real estate, same everything, same number of people, if not — we had more.”

Prince Harry’s marathon quest against Britain’s tabloids produced a “monumental victory” in the courts, he said in a TV interview that will air Thursday, but it was a “central piece” of the bitter rift between him and other members of the British royal family. Speaking for the first time since winning hundreds of thousands of pounds in damages from Mirror Group Newspapers over his claims that it had wrongfully invaded his privacy, Harry, 39, said that he had been vindicated by the judge’s ruling, even if the price to his relations with his family was high. “I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done,” Harry said in excerpts released by ITV News, part of an hourlong documentary about the phone-hacking scandal. But he added, “It would be nice if we, you know, did it as a family.”Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, did not explain exactly how his legal battle had further ruptured relations with his father or brother, Prince William. In his memoir, “Spare,” he attributed the rift to multiple causes, including his family’s treatment of his wife, Meghan Markle, a biracial American former actress.

As President Biden tries to save his candidacy, he is asking Americans to look to the past. “Look at what I’ve done in three and a half years,” Mr. Biden has declared over and over again since his disastrous debate performance in Atlanta two weeks ago. The swirling questions about President Biden’s age and mental fitness for office have captured Americans’ attention. More than 23 million people — a bigger audience than this year’s Academy Awards — tuned in on Thursday evening to see how Mr. Biden handled his first live news conference since a poor performance at last month’s debate with former President Donald J. The president’s nearly hourlong appearance, at the NATO summit in Washington, was one of the most-watched telecasts of the year, outside of sporting events.
