Coterra Energy Why we own it: Formed by the merger of Cabot Oil & Gas and Cimarex, Coterra Energy is an exploration-and-production company with a high-quality, diversified asset portfolio. In addition, we were pleased to see Coterra raise its full-year oil production outlook without moving its capex guidance. Coterra's mix of oil and natural gas acreage gives it the flexibility to adjust its drilling focus. However, the oil guide was higher and natural gas production was lighter than anticipated. As many American companies struggle to navigate the world's second-largest economy, Meta Platforms has found itself raking in billions of dollars from China without the direct challenges of doing business there. The influx in spending from Chinese ecommerce advertisers has been a "significant positive" for Meta, said Rohit Kulkarni, analyst at Roth MKM covering internet companies. Many American companies doing business in China have battled similar challenges as the post-Covid recovery there has progressed slower than expected. Meta has said it has a "diverse advertiser base" of Chinese companies. The concern is that as more Chinese advertisers target American consumers through Meta's platforms, that could drive up the price of ads for everyone.

Club holding Wells Fargo will post quarterly results on Friday, followed by our other financial holding, Morgan Stanley, on Tuesday. In theory, higher borrowing costs mean Wells Fargo can generate more money from those interest-earning assets, but it's not that simple. It's hard to say with the fluid inflation and rate expectations whether Wells Fargo might change its NII outlook when it reports on Friday. Wells Fargo also has a key long-term growth prospect in the potential removal of its $1.9 trillion Fed-imposed asset cap. A woman walks past Wells Fargo bank in New York City, U.S., March 17, 2020.

Many workers have expressed fears that the technology will show up at the office like a young gun coming for their job. Williams expects some of the biggest gains from AI won't center on what companies and workers are doing now. Instead, he sees major wins coming from what workers aren't doing but that AI could. Filling in when help is scarceOne reason jobs sometimes aren't getting done is because there aren't always enough workers. If AI could be deployed to help with this work, the time the task takes might get cut in half, Holding said.

How China's Shein became a fast-fashion giant

REUTERS/Chen Lin/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 28 (Reuters) - China-founded fashion company Shein has confidentially filed to go public in the United States, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday. Shein says the approach has helped it consistently achieve average unsold inventory rates in the low single digits. At that valuation, Shein would still trail Uniqlo owner Fast Retailing's (9983.T) $80 billion valuation and Zara owner Inditex's (ITX.MC) $126 billion. Shein moved its headquarters to Singapore from Nanjing, capital of China's eastern Jiangsu province, around late 2021, a shift that analysts said helps the firm circumvent China's tough new rules on overseas listings.

AAPL YTD mountain Apple (AAPL) performance year-to-date Foxconn's China-based factories have been crucial for the production of iPhones and other Apple products likes MacBooks. Those issues, along with heightened U.S.-China tensions, prompted Apple — and suppliers like Foxconn — to expand into India. CEO Tim Cook has previously told CNBC that India presents a "huge opportunity" for Apple in terms of iPhone sales and manufacturing. And over the summer, Apple announced it had started production on the next-generation iPhone 15 in India. While China's economy remains under pressure post-pandemic, the Indian market offers significant growth opportunities for a company like Apple.

Oil prices fell about $1 a barrel after OPEC postponed until next week a meeting to discuss production cuts. The oil cartel has been maintaining a tight market for crude oil with production cuts. It is expected to extend those cuts after oil prices have fallen after a spike in the summer to almost $100 a barrel. Markets in Greater China have been swaying in reaction to moves by Chinese regulators to prop up the ailing property market. A 0.9% drop in oil prices weighed on energy companies.

BANGKOK (AP) — Shares slipped in Asia on Wednesday, tracking a decline on Wall Street a day after stocks there hit their highest level since the start of August. Troubled property developer Sunac China Holding's shares rose 2.3% as state media reported it had completed a restructuring of its $90 billion in debts. Retailers were mixed after several reported their earnings for the latest quarter and, more importantly, their forecasts for the upcoming holiday shopping season. Lowe’s sank 3.1% despite reporting better profit for the latest quarter. Best Buy dipped 0.7% after likewise beating analysts’ expectations for profit in the latest quarter but falling short on revenue and cutting its forecast for the full year.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday suggested investors look past the noise surrounding On Holding's latest quarterly results and pick up shares of the Swiss shoemaker. On Holding's stock price has been on a "wild ride" over the past three sessions as investors digested its financial performance in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, Cramer said. However, he stressed that Wall Street's "confusing reaction" to Tuesday's results will prove misguided over time. Overall, since Monday's close before earnings, On Holding stock has climbed 2% — roughly in line with the S&P 500 over that time. Cramer said sellers may be concerned that some of On Holding's strong third-quarter results were actually pulled in from the fourth quarter.

Eli Lilly (LLY) remains our favorite way to play the weight-loss drug market, despite a new entry this week from AstraZeneca (AZN). Eli Lilly shares had their worst day of the year Thursday, falling 4.5% in the session to close at $591.32. AstraZeneca's encroachment on turf currently dominated by Eli Lilly and Danish rival Novo Nordisk (NVO) may have contributed to Thursday's declines. That approval, despite being widely expected, pushed Eli Lilly to an all-time closing high Wednesday, at $619.13 per share. Our desire to own Eli Lilly over Novo Nordisk hinges, in part, on our confidence in Eli Lilly's other treatment opportunities, such as in Alzheimer's.

Oct 30 (Reuters) - 3D metal-printing startup Seurat Technologies on Monday hinted at potentially going public in the medium-term and said it had raised $99 million in a funding round co-led by chip designer Nvidia's (NVDA.O) venture capital arm. With the latest series C funding round, the company's valuation will approach $350 million, said a source who asked not to be named. The fundraise, co-led by Nvidia's NVentures and Capricorn's Technology Impact Fund, brought in new investors Honda Motor (7267.T) and Cubit Capital. Existing backers including Porsche and venture capital units of Xerox Holdings (XRX.O) and General Motors Co (GM.N) also participated. "Seurat's local factory deployment model provides the industry with a solution to near-shore manufacturing and to increase the resiliency of supply chains," said existing investor Porsche Automobil Holding's (PSHG_p.DE) board member Lutz Meschke.

But, like us, Wall Street analysts have not waivered in their buy recommendations on Nvidia, despite acknowledging the semiconductor giant's opportunity in China may be diminished long term. Morgan Stanley left its Nvidia earnings estimates unchanged but adjusted the premium it expects investors to pay for those future earnings. All three firms maintained buy-equivalent ratings on Nvidia stock. The tougher export rules announced Tuesday specifically hit a pair of Nvidia AI chips designed to comply with Washington's initial restrictions last year. The A800 and H800 have slower data-transfer speeds than the cutting-edge AI chips Nvidia sells to U.S. technology firms, such as fellow Club holdings Microsoft (MSFT) and Oracle (ORCL).
