The on-cycle recruiting process is not easy on these young bankers, who are often already working 80+ hour weeks in their new investment-banking jobs. The conventional wisdom on Wall Street has always been that the most hawkish PE firms walk away with the most impressive candidates. The Financial Action Task Force, an international watchdog organization dedicated to combating money laundering and illicit cash flows, on Friday removed Turkey from its "gray list" of countries that need special monitoring, handing a major vote of confidence to the country in the midst of its economic turnaround efforts. It said that Turkey had strengthened the effectiveness of its AML/CFT regime to address "deficiencies" that FATF listed in its October 2021 monitoring report. Those deficiencies included FATF concerns over unregistered money transfer services, insufficient resources dedicated to terrorist financing investigations, alleged involvement in sanctions evasion, lack of oversight on high-risk sectors used for money laundering such as banking and real estate, and insufficient oversight of nonprofit organizations that could be used for terrorist financing, among others. The FATF in its 2021 report had found sectors like banking, construction and property in Turkey vulnerable to illicit financing of United Nations-sanctioned groups like the Islamic State and al-Qaeda.

Especially the last bit: Corporate America is obsessed with ensuring their employees are staying productive when they’re working remotely, away from the gimlet eyes of management. It’s easy to imagine the types of pretend productivity gadgets these employees might have used: “mouse jigglers,” gizmos with a questionable name that make random, small motions of a mouse or touchpad. And Wells Fargo’s crackdown on these gadgets is just the latest attempt by big business to rein in perceived slacking by remote employees. That perceptual gap reflects a vast and growing mutual distrust between workers and employers in America. They’re how workers are battling back against boardroom Big Brother, in a technological arms race that’s only getting wilder as devices get more sophisticated.

He’s going to be a killer rebounder, monster screener and will consistently establish his position even against some of the stronger NBA players. I’m done doubting Edey, even as an NBA player. As an enormous ballhandler with serious touch and incredible vision as a passer, Topić is clearly an NBA player, even if it doesn’t all translate.
