According to one of the prosecutors in the case, Trump had an affair with Karen McDougal, a former Playboy model, while his wife, Melania Trump, was pregnant. The idea that the affair took place while Melania Trump was expecting a child, however, had never been previously reported. "We were just as surprised as you when Josh Steinglass stated that Melania was pregnant at the time," Carol Heller, a representative for McDougal, told Business Insider. Barron Trump, the sole child of Donald and Melania Trump, was born in March 2006 — before McDougal says the affair took place. Advertisement"Steinglass misspoke about Melania being pregnant during the affair, and Merchan relied on the incorrect impression he gave when he talked about Melania being pregnant," Heller told BI.

In the past week of testimony in Donald J. Trump’s criminal trial, prosecutors were tying their case together, with two of the most important witnesses — a porn star and Mr. Trump’s one-time fixer — testifying just days apart. Defense attorneys painted Mr. Cohen as a serial liar bent on exacting revenge against his former boss. Mr. Trump’s attorneys grilled the porn star, Stormy Daniels, about her credibility, poking holes in her recollection of an assignation she said occurred in 2006. Mr. Trump has denied having sex with Ms. Daniels or having any knowledge of the payment scheme. If convicted, he could face probation or as long as four years in prison.

Todd Blanche, the lead lawyer defending Donald Trump in his New York criminal trial, wasted no time today before aggressively questioning the prosecution’s star witness, Michael Cohen. “Sure,” Cohen replied. The cross-examination, which will continue on Thursday after the trial takes a day off, could prove to be crucial. Cohen is the prosecution’s 19th and final witness, and likely the most important one. During his two days of testimony, he has claimed that Trump knew at the time that the 2016 hush-money payment, which is at the center of the felony charges against him, would be falsely labeled legal expenses.

The payment to a porn star, Stormy Daniels, was made on Mr. Trump's behalf by his former fixer, Michael D. Cohen, to buy her silence about a tryst she said she had with Mr. Trump. Once Mr. Trump was elected, he reimbursed Mr. Cohen. Mr. Bragg’s prosecutors have accused Mr. Trump of falsifying business records to disguise the purpose of the reimbursements. Mr. Trump’s lawyers would have had to convince Judge Hellerstein, who sits in Manhattan, that the accusations were related in some way to Mr. Trump’s official duties as president. At one point, in a phrase that echoed Mr. Colangelo, the judge said of Mr. Cohen that “he was hired as a private matter to take care of private matters.”

In his new book, "Revenge," Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen accused him of being a fascist. Cohen said the US is "in danger" of losing its government to fascists who want to destroy democracy. He called Trump the "standard bearer for corrupt dictator wannabes" and a "poster boy for fascism." In his book, Cohen also accused Trump of being a "mirror into the depths of the soul of government corruption." Since his release, Cohen has become an outspoken critic of Trump and has commented extensively on the former president's many legal troubles.
Michael Cohen said he thinks Trump will get indicted on tax charges. Speaking to MSNBC, Cohen predicted Trump would face the "Al Capone effect." Capone, a notorious gangster, was indicted in 1931 on tax evasion charges. "Like the Al Capone effect, you're not going to get him on murder, extortion, racketeering. During his MSNBC appearance, Cohen commented on Trump's legal troubles and predicted that the former president would use a "playbook" — which Cohen helped create — in response to them.
