After having my son nearly three years ago, I struggled with an almost debilitating embarrassment about my performance as a mother. His birth unleashed a sense that I somehow wasn't good enough, so I would have to overcompensate to be a good parent. I didn't know what to do, so I made an excuse and took my son somewhere else to play. That's why I went back to therapy two years ago when my son was 1. Then on Jan. 5, about six minutes and 16,000 feet into a packed flight out of Portland, Oregon, a door plug blew out of a nearly new Boeing 737 Max 9. The Federal Aviation Administration barred Boeing from increasing output of its Max planes and stepped up hands-on inspections at production plants. The 737 was dubbed "Baby Boeing" and went on to become the company's bestseller, helping to make Boeing the largest U.S. exporter. Pilots in those Boeing planes fought against a flight-control system, the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System, that pushed the nose of the planes downward repeatedly. Boeing has said it aims to increase rates to about 50 Max planes a month in the next few years.

CNN —Buckingham Palace’s famous balcony room, where the monarch and other members of the royal family gather on special occasions before waving at cheering crowds in the streets below, is opening to the public for the first time. Final preparations are made in the Centre Room on July 8, where members of Royal Collection Trust staff tend to a chandelier. Victoria and Prince Albert were the first royals to use Buckingham Palace as a family home, following their marriage in 1840. The East Wing was built shortly after, between 1847 and 1849, to accommodate their growing family. Today, Buckingham Palace is mainly used for official meetings and events.
