Mr. Cohen was no longer a Trump Organization employee, and Mr. Trump had excluded him from a job in Washington. When one of Mr. Trump’s friends asked Mr. Trump why he kept Mr. Cohen so close, Mr. Trump replied, “He has his purpose.”Image In 2016, Mr. Cohen campaigned for Mr. Trump, but he did not get a job in the administration. It is entirely possibly that millions of Americans encountered false claims about the bridge collapse when they woke up Tuesday morning before ever seeing the facts. Politics is everythingWhat is perhaps most notable about how quickly and widely conspiracy theories about a breaking news story spread is just how normal this all is right now. Jewish space lasersAs news unfolded on Tuesday, the conspiracy theories continued. Greene has not weighed in on the cause of the bridge collapse. Jewish space lasers were not responsible for the wildfires, nor the Baltimore bridge collapse.

Media entrepreneur Byron Allen says he wants to buy Paramount for $14.3 billion. Who wants to buy a big TV company these days, anyway? But investors still think it's worth less than $10 billion — meaning they don't think Allen Media is really going to end up owning Paramount. AdvertisementOne answer may simply be skepticism about Allen Media Group and its owner, TV personality-turned-entrepreneur Byron Allen. But no one, to date, has suggested that Paramount is worth anything close to $14 billion.

Reps from Deutsche Bank, which NY says was defrauded, described actually prospering thanks to Trump. Advertisement"We are whale hunting," former Deutsche Bank executive Rosemary Vrablic told her fellow bankers of Trump in an email from 2011, soon after son-in-law Jared Kushner offered to make an introduction. She contends that Deutsche Bank was defrauded out of more than $100 million in interest income. As a sophisticated international lender, the bank did its own risk analysis, apart from Trump's net-worth statements, the defense has argued. But the state has countered that any fact-checking, any profit-making, and any other non-victim-like behavior on the part of Deutsche Bank is besides the point.

“We always end up talking about politics,” Karolina says with an exaggerated weariness. An increasingly toxic politics has polluted kitchens and dining rooms in every region of the country. But the negativity of the country’s politics – arguments echoed each hour on state TV, which is almost always turned on – has worn her down, she says. The efforts sparked years of legal challenges, protests and international confrontations – and hardened the Polish public. Asked whether Polish politics is more divided than they remember it, three generations of this family explode in agreement.

Strange ‘earthquake lights’ explained

CNN —I once felt the immense force unleashed by an earthquake in 1999 when I was living in Taipei, Taiwan. It was a feeling I was reminded of again this week when writing about a mysterious seismic phenomenon witnessed during Morocco’s recent devastating earthquake. Force of natureReports of multicolor “earthquake lights,” such as the ones seen in videos captured before Morocco’s 6.8 magnitude quake on September 8, go back centuries to ancient Greece. Researchers are beginning to understand the different forms the lights take and where they might appear. One 2014 study found the mystery lights could result from certain rocks when put under stress, but there is still no consensus on exactly what causes these outbursts.

Anderson Cooper's face was priceless as he recognized "The Phantom of the Opera" at a Trump rally. Andrew Lloyd Webber, the musical's creator, once asked Trump to stop playing his music. The song he recognized was the soundtrack from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera." "Is that — I'm sorry, is that 'The Phantom of the Opera' soundtrack playing?" Trump has an affinity for the "Phantom" soundtrack, MSNBC previously reported, citing a book by Trump's former White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham.

On Douban, a popular Chinese movie review site, the movie is currently scored 8.6 out of 10, with nearly half of all viewers giving it full marks. Another top comment compared “Barbie” to another recent Chinese release, “Lost in the Stars,” which had previously received criticism for its portrayal of gender stereotypes. “There isn’t any new thinking about feminism, the movie is just an expression of old thoughts,” one person wrote on Douban. By Monday, cinemas had increased the number of screenings allocated to “Barbie” to make up 8.7% of all movie screenings, according to Maoyan. The film’s success is all the more notable given mounting challenges for US films to break into the Chinese movie market – the world’s second biggest, briefly holding the top spot during the Covid pandemic.

‘Ted Lasso’ Taught Phil Dunster How to Play Nice

But his take on the character, informed by his deep soccer fandom, came to dictate much of how the character was written, he explained, right down to jokes that hinge on Dunster’s twanging accent. (One of the most memorable lines in Season 3 revolves around his singular pronunciation of a colloquial term for excrement.) “I don’t want to put it down solely to my performance as Oliver in a Year 3 production at school, but that laid the foundation of me being a show-off,” he said. “I flocked, man — I had someone who was looking after me, and I still managed to screw everything up,” he said. On the bus ride home, he was dismayed: “I remember thinking, ‘What am I doing?

‘Shrinking’ Review: When a Therapist Needs Therapy
  + stars: | 2023-01-25 | by ( John Anderson | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: +1 min
The delicate polarities that exist within the world of “Shrinking” would certainly include the close-to-antic performance of Jason Segel vs. that of a dryly hilarious Harrison Ford. And the comic dynamic between the glorious Jessica Williams and the askew characters played by Messrs. Ford and Segel. But more essential to the 10-episode series is the seesawing sensation it maintains between profoundly dysfunctional people and feel-good comedy. But the overall sense is a little like laughing at a funeral; the human impulses are familiar, a little perverse and somehow comforting. Ms. Miller is wonderfully droll; Liz’s good deeds do not go unpunished.
