Up the carpeted stairs, past the tuxedoed photographers, Anna Wintour stood at the top of the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute benefit. “Your royal highnesses,” Baz Luhrmann, the Australian film director, said as he approached Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth, who were standing in a receiving line with Ms. Wintour. The space had been transformed by greenery, filled with string musicians and dancers, creating a “Midsummer Night’s” dreamscape just off Fifth Avenue. “How is it out there?” Ms. Wintour said, adding, “You look incredible.”One by one, the stratospherically famous faces that captivate imaginations worldwide walked carefully up the stairs and stopped to talk to the row of co-chairs. (Zendaya, the fifth co-chair, did not make it to the perch.)

A little over two years after selling adtech company Flashtalking to Mediaocean for $500 million , John Nardone is on the hunt for his next big adtech exit, he confirmed to Business Insider. Private equity firm GTCR is poised to be the financial sponsor on such a deal. Nardone intends to become CEO of the roll-up company and expects to bring on his own management team. Days before the agreement closed, "Vista swooped in and stole the deal," Nardone said. Before Flashtalking, Nardone sold the adtech company [x+1] to fellow adtech firm Rocket Fuel for around $230 million , and he helped take the digital marketing and research company Modem Media public.

CNN —Singapore’s Changi Airport has fully reopened Terminal 2 following a massive 3.5-year expansion project. But it was the introduction of some previously unheard-of amenities that really got the world’s travelers to take notice. Changi Airport Terminal 3 – which now has a 12-meter-high mega slide and a butterfly garden – entered the picture in 2008. Featuring a dramatic, doughnut-shaped exterior framed in steel and glass, the 135,700-square-meter space is a multi-use complex that connects three of Changi Airport’s four terminals. Meanwhile, airport officials have already revealed plans for Terminal 5, which is expected to open to travelers in the mid-2030s.

Bringing this moment of cultural collision back to life would represent as sweeping a challenge as Fisk had ever faced. The sets would represent a kind of culmination of Fisk’s careerlong obsession with reclaiming the rough contours of American history. On set, Malick refers to Fisk as “my eyes.”Fisk has a background in the fine arts, but he considers himself more strictly speaking a “worker” — the conduit of someone else’s vision. (Noirs of the 1940s are crosshatched with shadows partly to conceal threadbare sets.) In early Hollywood, most were painters, hired to illustrate literal backdrops on massive rolls of canvas hung behind the actors.

How Serious is No Labels? - The New York Times

No Labels is this last refuge, a resting place inside and outside the two parties and a half-finished Washington dreamscape. This fact is the firm but vibrating floor beneath the No Labels project and the panic it has produced — the recognition that we’re approaching a 2024 election that will make American voters unhappy. Unhappy enough to vote for a mystery unity ticket, only on the principle of their unhappiness? I don’t know that the electoral effects of No Labels are as clear as people say. And No Labels is here to take advantage of that sadness with a half-finished idea.

Two pale children dressed in black cloaks seem to be seeking guidance from the bull, as well as a phantom spirit. “I like the idea that there’s something happening in secret here,” said Ms. Hessel, hovering her finger near the painting’s faceless dancing apparition. As an expression of Ms. Carrington’s dual upbringing — her rebellious youth in Britain and subsequent escape to Mexico — “these hybridized figures feel like figures from two worlds in a way,” Ms. Hessel said. Ms. Hessel, petite, with long brown hair parted in the middle, carried the U.S. edition of her forthcoming 512-page art history book, “The Story of Art Without Men,” in a white Bao Bao Issey Miyake tote slung over an Axel Arigato trench coat. Though it isn’t especially unusual these days for certain podcast hosts to get recognized in public, it remains less common for an art historian like Ms. Hessel.

‘Tell a dream, lose a reader,” writing teachers say to their charges. But after you’ve won five Academy Awards, you may feel you’ve earned the right to luxuriate in your fancies. Mr. Iñárritu’s latest, “Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths,” signals accurately in its title that it’s a heady dose of magical-realist arthouse cinema intended for serious filmgoers only. Yet it’s a dense, plotless, phantasmagorical swirl of memories, wishes and grudges, and so it demands full concentration in a theater. It is not best experienced from the lounge chair whose occupant may be distracted by the phone or the proximity of the kitchen.
