JPMorgan's chief global markets strategist, Marko Kolanovic, advises investors to play commodities against recession risks. Kolanovic named natural gas as his top pick within the commodities sector. Investors can look to the United States Natural Gas Fund LP (UNG) to gain exposure to the commodity; it's down about 48% year to date. The strategist forecasts U.S. natural gas prices to undergo a 25% rally in the next few months on expectations of a supply growth reversal. A copy of Prigozhin's calendar obtained by Die Welt and shared with Insider shows just how deeply enmeshed he was with the Putin regime. Putin's name appears in Prigozhin's calendar only twice, and neither entry records a one-on-one meeting. Wagner employees typically identify themselves and sign documents using three or four-digit employee numbers, and most Prigozhin's meetings with Wagner Group employees are presented this way. These rows of data extracted from Yevgeny Prigozhin's private calendar show Wagner Group personnel identified solely by their employee numbers. In the end, his demands for a slot on Putin's calendar went unanswered.

An image supposedly showing a poster for Canada’s Scotiabank announcing that all accounts will be automatically transitioned to “digital bank accounts” has been altered. The image is digitally altered, however, and Reuters found no press release published by the bank that all accounts will automatically be transferred to digital ones (here). “I can confirm this is not an authentic Scotiabank poster and the claims in it are false,” Katie Raskina, manager of media relations and issues management at Scotiabank told Reuters. An online search reveals iterations of the same poster without the sentence in italics and dated May 10, 2021 (here). Text was later digitally added to the poster to make it appear as if the bank announced that it will soon automatically transition all bank accounts to digital ones.

Tens of thousands of workers from Nepal, the Philippines and other developing countries took jobs at U.S. military bases in Afghanistan. Called third-country nationals, or TCNs, because they were not from the U.S. or Afghanistan, they worked as cafeteria workers, janitors and often armed guards for the bases. When a car bomb or other Taliban attack occurred, Afghans and TCN contractors “were far more likely to be killed or injured,” said the report. During the interviews, Coburn and Gill found 12 different contract workers injured or killed who did not appear to have received proper compensation. When contractors are found to have violated insurance requirements, there is little punishment, according to the report.
