Prosecutors from the Southern District of New York are fighting a legal battle on two fronts. The government’s ability to sketch a clear and convincing picture for the jury despite these growing constraints will likely determine Menendez’s legal fate. “(She) communicated with the bribe payers, she passed messages to Menendez, and she collected some of the bribes,” Pomerantz said. Rob Menendez – rotten to the core.”Menendez Jr. directly addressed that line of attack in a recent spot of his own. But for Menendez, the senator and father, the will of the 8th District’s primary voters could weigh heavily on his political future – and legacy.

“If that story was untrue, I would have written it to be a lot better,” Daniels said of her encounter with Trump. “You have a lot of experience of making phony stories about sex appear to be real,” Necheles asked. “You’re celebrating the indictment by selling things from your store,” Necheles asked. “Not unlike Mr. Trump,” Daniels responded. Prosecutor Josh Steinglass said Trump was aware of the “messy details” of the encounter in 2016 and that shows motive for the hush money payment and cover up.

Like yellow Starbursts, we all deal with the middle seat, but most of us don't prefer it. I now kneel at the altar of the middle seat, and you should, too. The stigma around middle seats has meant aisle and window passengers tend to give those stuck there more space. Middle seats are cheaperPerhaps you're still not sold on the middle. One process server used a jet-tracking to try to serve Elon Musk with the custody papers. AdvertisementAdvertisementA person hired by Grimes' legal team tracked Elon Musk's private jets for days in an attempt to serve him with custody papers, according to court documents obtained by Insider. In Grimes' latest filing, she documented numerous attempts to serve Musk with the custody papers. AdvertisementAdvertisementChristopher Melcher, a California family law attorney and partner at Walzer Melcher, told Insider that the use of jet tracking by the process server was unusual but not unreasonable. In her court papers, Grimes' team said a different process server who had handed her complaint to Musk's security at X was proof enough that she'd served the billionaire.

Ray Dalio once ordered a probe into urine on the men's room floor, a new book says. Bridgewater said Dalio did complain about restroom tidiness, but the book passage is "exaggerated" and "false." In "The Fund: Ray Dalio, Bridgewater Associates, and the Unraveling of a Wall Street Legend," Copeland wrote that Dalio once excused himself from a meeting to use the restroom and he found pee on the floor. "It was a true circus," Copeland wrote in the book. Bridgewater even brought in new urinals and added stickers as targets, the book said, and later reviewed their exact placement.

Opinion: Messi mania meets USWNT three-peat fever

On the other side of the world in Auckland, the USWNT took down World Cup newcomer Vietnam 3-0. It was nonsense to worry about what to watch or whether Messi would upstage the women. MLS chief Don Garber, for one, says he’s not worried about the impact Saudi money could have on the ability of the MLS to expand into markets outside the US, especially as it failed to win Messi. Friday may have been the first time in his life that Messi was someone else’s opening act. The USWNT did what was expected, beating a lesser team in Vietnam, but they also have a lot of work in front of them.

LONDON, July 11 (Reuters) - Global hedge funds not specialising in crypto assets have grown skittish from recent industry turmoil and this has lead to an exit from the sector, a survey showed on Tuesday. The proportion of traditional hedge funds investing in crypto-assets has dropped to 29% this year from 37% in 2022, the report by PWC and the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) said. Traditional hedge funds that avoided trading in crypto said deterrents included reputational risk, a lack of clear guidance from regulators and tax authorities and unreliable data. Hedge funds that are invested in crypto mostly use bitcoin or Ethereum. Almost half of hedge funds that were already trading crypto said they would put more money in, but that crypto only accounted for 2% of assets under management.

Activision Blizzard stock popped 11% after a judge paved the way for Microsoft to complete its takeover of the game publisher. She said the deal would in fact enhance access to popular game franchises like "Call of Duty" and other titles published by Activision. The company has said it is concerned that Microsoft will make popular franchises like "Call of Duty" exclusive to its consoles. Microsoft has said it doesn't intent to do this, but critics point to the firm's $11 billion takeover of Zenimax in 2021. The deal can now proceed before a hearing that the FTC had scheduled for August, in which it was set to challenge the merger.

"It's all about containing those kinds of capabilities from the north," retired U.S. Major General Gordon B. Davis Jr. told Reuters. "With five submarines we can close the Baltic Sea," Linden told Reuters. The region from the Baltic in the south to the high north may become almost an integrated operating area for NATO. It was first shipped from Germany across the Baltic Sea, then trucked nearly 900 km to the north. "It would make it very difficult for the Russian Baltic Sea fleet to operate in a free way," he said.

The wall-to-wall coverage represented yet another day in which Mr. Trump dominated the airwaves. Many of the panelists who took part in the coverage discussed the momentous nature of the day. There were no shots of Mr. Trump entering the courthouse — his motorcade entered a garage — nor were there any images inside the federal building. The networks relied instead on images of demonstrators outside the courthouse. Five hours later, Mr. Ramaswamy sat for a live Fox News interview with Ms. MacCallum, this time in studio in New York.

Some people confused Donald Trump's 27-year-old spokesperson Margo Martin for Melania Trump. The former first lady stayed in New York while Donald Trump appeared in court in Florida. Spectators — and even Fox News — thought Melania Trump was outside his court appearance in Florida to support him on Tuesday. "Apparently it was not Melania," Roberts said on-air. Melania actually stayed in New York City while Trump traveled to Florida for the court appearance, the Daily Mail reported.

You can scroll a bit further down for the market's reaction to the stunning Tucker Carlson announcement, but for today, we're turning our attention to crypto. If you ask Chamath Palihapitiya, that's because crypto crossed the wrong people and now it's dead, at least in the US. While crypto may be "dead in America," bitcoin is still going to $100,000. The housing market is close to bottoming and that could stave off a bad recession. CNN —“We’re all in – 100%,” US billionaire businessman Todd Boehly told Chelsea fans upon his arrival at the club in May 2022. Chelsea crashed out of the Champions League after losing to Real Madrid 4-0 on aggregate. Following the loss against Real Madrid, Chelsea captain Thiago Silva spoke candidly to reporters on the issues that come with this kind of spending. Besides Kai Havertz and Marc Cucurella, no Chelsea outfield player has started more than 20 games in the Premier League this season. The Blues are on course to have their lowest scoring season in Premier League history with their current total of 30 goals.
The pandemic offered coastal communities across the US a taste of life without cruise ships. Now, port cities in Florida, Maine, Alaska, and California are fighting to limit or ban the vessels. A few weeks prior, Juneau, Alaska's city assembly voted to cap the number of cruise ships visiting the capital's downtown port at five per day. According to one study commissioned by Stand.earth, an environmental organization, found that cruise passengers visiting Victoria, a major Canadian cruise port, were responsible for less than 2% of tourism spending. Do you live or work near a US cruise port?
Corporate finance executives looking to cut their debt costs this year are likely to find one popular tool isn’t as attractive as it was when the Federal Reserve was aggressively raising interest rates in 2022. Under a cross-currency swap, a company exchanges principal and interest payments on its debt into another currency. Swaps can lose their appeal to companies when the gap between interest rates in two countries, or central banks, narrows. Corporate advisers said they expect cross-currency swap volumes to decline in the months ahead, assuming market expectations for future rate increases hold steady. That rule made it easier for companies to use cross-currency swaps and recognize the interest savings on their financial statements.
"I feel violated," White told NBC News on Friday. “You know how they say ‘stranger danger?’ That’s the way I feel.”The men have been coming to White's door hail from all over Texas. The men she's spoken to have been honest about why they're at her door. In one incident captured on her doorbell security camera, a man said he was there to "meet someone" named "Rhonda." White said she's been overwhelmed by the support she's received from neighbors and former co-workers who live nearby.
The men’s defense lawyers asked a judge to rule the geofence warrant unconstitutional and throw out any evidence that came from it. Last March, a federal judge in Virginia ruled that a geofence warrant used to find a suspect in a bank robbery was unconstitutional. In September, a state court in San Francisco ruled against the use of a geofence warrant in a burglary investigation. Law enforcement agencies may then try workarounds, like teaming up with agencies in jurisdictions that lack restrictions. “This is a tool that law enforcement is hellbent on using, and I understand why,” Owsley said.
The White House and U.S. Secret Service said Monday they do not maintain visitor logs for President Joe Biden’s personal home in Wilmington, Del., a day after a top House Republican called for their release. “Like every President across decades of modern history, his personal residence is personal,” White House counsel’s office spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement. The White House acknowledged on Saturday that more pages with classified markings were discovered at Biden's Delaware home than had been previously disclosed. On Saturday, the White House said additional pages marked classified from the Obama administration were found at Biden’s Wilmington residence, in addition to the two batches that were previously disclosed earlier in the week. In a Sunday interview with CNN”s “State of the Union,” Comer was pressed why his committee was focused on Biden’s documents but not Trump’s.

CNN —After starting out well, “Kindred” gets lost in a maze of its own making, adapting Octavia E. Butler’s time-traveling novel into an eight-part Hulu series that spends far too much time spinning its wheels. The series does begin promisingly enough, as Dana (Mallori Johnson) moves into a new house in Los Angeles and begins to experience a series of eerie visions. Mallori Johnson (left) in the Hulu series "Kindred." Brace yourself, in other words, for a lengthier commitment to glean greater insight into how all of this works. “Kindred” premieres December 13 on Hulu.
Crypto holders were likely already on high alert when concerns about FTX began bubbling up, after the collapse of tokens and the bankruptcies of firms holding customer money. In cryptocurrency markets, a little bit of knowledge is proving to be very dangerous. For many digital assets, transactions can be recorded in what is essentially a public forum, on networks known as blockchains. It isn’t necessarily clear who is transacting, but movements of currency from place to place can be visible. If you can match an address to a name, it can give what looks like a detailed picture of a trader or exchange’s comings and goings.
