But, during all of the emotional, logistical, and legal stresses of going through my second divorce, one problem often felt worse than others: changing my name, again. I had changed my name beforeI never felt particularly attached to my maiden name. In addition to the humiliation at work, I also changed my Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn profile names back to my maiden name. It's ironic, really, that I worked in marketing for decades and didn't value the brand of my given name. The second time I didn't change it legally but did publiclyIn my second marriage, while I didn't change my name legally, I did adjust my social media handles to reflect my marital status.

This was my first night in the country, and it was also my very first tasting menu. He said 90% of the restaurant's ingredients are locally sourced, which means the menu changes throughout the year to highlight peak produce. The tasting menu was a great way to solve this dilemma. Plus, a tasting menu took the stress out of ordering. I'll admit that not every course on Intimo's tasting menu catered to my preferences; next time, I'll order the bass in Caribbean curry over the guacho.

My wife Pam and I have been married for 37 years. Strictly speaking, it applies only to being married to Pam, but I hope it is sufficiently generalizable to other situations. After visiting Las Vegas over 50 times, my husband and I have a dining strategy: We return to a few of our favorite spots and then try a couple of new ones. AdvertisementStill, I held onto the hope that since my friend had invited us, she would pick up the tab. But an elevated CA-125 is not a diagnosis, and we wouldn't know anything for sure until I saw an oncologist. We lived and enjoyed and spent money the way I liked to now — not on fancy meals but on memories. It's been four and a half years since my friend's birthday dinner. Read previewI've lived in London for nearly two years and have been visiting the capital city for even longer. The food scene is pretty diverse, and London has a reputation for having chain restaurants and upscale dining experiences, like the Ritz and after-the-theater restaurants around Covent Garden. But recently, I dined at quite the hidden gem: The Clink Restaurant inside Brixton Prison. Entering the prison reminded me of going through airport securityWe had to go through security before entering the restaurant. The restaurant is located in the center of the prison courtyardThe Clink is housed in a converted governor's house that dates back to 1819.

I tried 28 dips and spreads from Trader Joe's to see which would be the best for a Super Bowl party. Even Whistler Blackcomb ski resort was only a two-hour drive from home — where the diverse terrain and charming village are world-famous and Winter Olympics-worthy for good reason. The ride in a private taxi to Niseko, Hokkaido took around two hours. Here are five reasons Niseko offered a better experience than Whistler, but why I would still choose the North American ski resort over the Japanese ski destination. Even if the snow in Whistler isn't as consistent, it surpasses the Japanese ski town for many reasons. We will probably make our way back to a different ski resort in Japan while living in Asia.

I left the US to start over and I've spent the past few months falling love with Istanbul. The city is stunning and bustling — and I find that my American dollars go far here. For example, I'm living in a digital-nomad hotel in Kadikoy, one of the hippest neighborhoods on the Asian side, right by the water. I'm able to save money each month, which I always found challenging to do while living in NYC. I've had chestnuts, corn, and mussels stuffed with spiced rice and topped with fresh lemon juice for just a few dollars.

FILTERWORLD: How Algorithms Flattened Culture, by Kyle ChaykaThis dispatch began from an uptown location of Dig (formerly Dig Inn), a small chain of “fast casual” restaurants headquartered in New York City. The walls are white-painted brick, the tables are marble and the cardboard bowls are packed with colorful, healthy foodstuffs. Only the insipid pop music that blares through the speakers discourages lingering. Dig’s food, our “feeds”; their appetizers, our apps — they are all of a piece. Chayka has visited a lot of establishments with a similar aesthetic, which he has dubbed AirSpace, like a Nike sneaker, for its geographically neutral comfort.
