The body found Wednesday near the Kentucky highway where a gunman opened fire Sept. 7 has been identified as the suspected shooter, Joseph A. Couch, officials said on Friday. Personal effects and a weapon were found with the body, officials said. Authorities have been searching for Couch, 32, since the shooting spree next to Interstate 75 in Kentucky that left five people seriously injured. The Laurel County Sheriff's Office said 12 vehicles were hit and an estimated 20 to 30 rounds were fired. The woman called dispatchers in Laurel County to report the messages.

A college student allegedly scratched a racial slur onto another student's body at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania, officials said Thursday. According to the Gettysburgian, the college's student newspaper, at least two members of the swim team have been suspended following the attack. The Georgia state election board on Friday voted 3-2 to require counties to hand-count ballots cast on Election Day, a move that could drastically lengthen the amount of time to tally results in a critical battleground state. The dispute involves a plot of vacant land near Brownsville, Texas, far from the Cards Against Humanity corporate headquarters in Chicago. No wall was ever built on the property, where the company keeps a “No Trespassing” sign, according to the company. Cards Against Humanity said it bought the land after 150,000 people each paid $15 toward a crowdfunding effort. A 16-year-old boy died Wednesday after he was apparently struck by lightning while riding a bicycle in Florida, police said. Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue officials told NBC South Florida that the teen had burn wounds on his chest and inner thighs. Zandra Laguna, who lives in the neighborhood, told NBC South Florida she went outside and saw the teen across the street on his bike just moments before a lightning strike. The Federal Trade Commission said Friday that it is suing three drug middlemen, accusing them of inflating insulin prices. PBMs work with insurance companies to negotiate discounted prices from drug companies in exchange for including the drugs in their coverage. The drug was priced at $274 in 2017, as a result of the PBMs rebate system strategy, the FTC said. In July, Democratic and Republican lawmakers blamed executives from Caremark, Express Scripts and Optum Rx for sky-high prescription drug prices in the U.S. during an oversight committee hearing. A federal jury found that costumed players, dressed as Sesame characters near Philadelphia, did not discriminate against young Black patrons in widely shared video two years ago, court records showed on Thursday. The Philadelphia panel sided with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, voting unanimously that the defense's Sesame Place Philadelphia, a children’s theme park in Burks County, did not discriminate against girls shown in videos that went viral in July 2022. The verdict was reached on Wednesday and entered into court records on Thursday. “We are pleased with the jury’s verdict and thank them for their service and attention," SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment said in statement to NBC News on Friday. “We want every guest at our park to feel welcomed and safe when they visit us and to be able to see and feel aspects of themselves in the experiences we create,” SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment said.

This may be the first supply chain attack that actually really deserves to be called a supply chain attack,” said Thomas Rid, a Johns Hopkins University professor who studies the history of intelligence operations. “Supply chain compromises are tried and true in intelligence work,” said Harding, who is the director of the Intelligence, National Security, and Technology Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “I literally cannot think of a single example that is unclassified.”But she said the combined scope, planning and violence behind the pager and walkie-talkie operation made it a unique incident in the history of supply chain compromises. While the attack in Lebanon broke with spy agencies’ tradition by using a supply chain for an attack rather than for espionage, it could benefit Israel’s military objectives and have larger political implications.

NBC News interviewed 10 women who say they gave birth with Baker, two in Wisconsin before 2014 and eight in Mexico in the years since. On social media, accounts with the usernames “Heather Baker Midwife” and “heatherbakermidwife,” one of which had her photo, sent “cease and desist” messages to Nosek and another former client. John Beard, a spokesperson for the Wisconsin licensing agency, declined to answer questions about Baker, citing an ongoing investigation.
