President Trump’s effort to stop key states from certifying Democrat Joe Biden’s election victory hit a hurdle on Friday after two Michigan lawmakers he had summoned to the White House said they saw no reason why the state’s results would change.
In a sign of Mr. Trump’s narrowing window, Georgia certified its results Friday afternoon, affirming Mr. Biden’s victory there by more than 12,000 votes.
Mr. Trump’s aim is to stop Michigan from certifying its vote on Monday, his lawyers have said, though state officials say they plan to proceed.
Mr. Trump insisted Friday that he won the election but took no reporter questions at an event on drug pricing.
Later that afternoon, he met with Michigan state Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Lee Chatfield at the White House.
