An Airbus Wingman air combat drone stands on display at the 2024 ILA Berlin Air Show on June 05, 2024 in Schoenefeld, Germany. Airbus this week revealed the concept for a new fighter-type drone, called Wingman, and showcased a model of it at Berlin's massive ILA Air Show. The drone would be an "unmanned escort for manned fighter jets," Airbus said in a statement, noting that it is designed to operate in a similar way to an actual wingman. In aviation, a wingman is a pilot in a secondary aircraft that supports and protects the primary one. The drone, which can be commanded by fighter jet pilots, can be deployed on riskier missions which could post a threat to manned aircraft.

Lessons From a 20-Person Polycule

Relationships With More Than One PersonKatie I started by dating somebody on an ENM app who was in a different polycule who was connected to someone in this polycule. He’s married, and his wife and I are metamours, which is simply a word for my partner’s partner. Resources always help, books like “The Ethical Slut” and “Polysecure.” But undoing the monogamous script, the socialization, is really, really difficult. One of their husbands is one of my best friends and occasional sexual partner, and I do have sex with my wives, but we’re not romantically involved. It’s, I’m doing these things, I’m going to be gone for these two weeks, what do you need from me?

However, virtual dating can't replace the chemistry and spark of an in-person meeting. Carlotta Cattelani, the UK country manager at the dating app Fruitz, told BI that meeting virtually makes dates more accessible. AdvertisementA virtual date is a less formal chance to see if your match is searching for the same things you are, Cattelani said. She warns that speaking virtually cannot entirely replace meeting someone in person, so FaceTime dates should be used sparingly. It's easier to be "catfished" on social media, she said, because virtual dates cannot replace the chemistry, body language, and eye contact you might experience in real life.

My dad and I were once invincible dominoes partners, I was his frente, and he was my compiche, my wingman. When the domino table materialized at that time of the night at our family parties, he scanned the room looking for me until we locked eyes. I am not competitive, but I was driven to win, if only to see the fire in his eyes. The thrill of the domino smack on the table, as my soft-spoken papi yelled “Capicuá!” — he just knew he killed it. The pilot of the jet was able to parachute away safely and is in a stable condition, officials said. The pilot, who was not named, was able to parachute safely into North Charleston. Now, 55 years after that harrowing evening in Vietnam, Taylor received the Medal of Honor – the nation’s highest military award – from President Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday for his heroism. Larry L. Taylor assumed command of one of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment's combat engineer companies in Nuremberg, West Germany. The Air Force has requested $5.8 billion in its budget to create AI-driven XQ-58A Valkyrie aircraft. The autonomous crafts are ideal for completing suicide missions and protecting pilots, the Air Force says. Human rights advocates say letting technology take lives crosses a moral boundary. The Times reported each Valkyrie will cost between $3 million and $25 million — far less than a manned pilot jet. Air Force and Department of Defense representatives did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

It is powered into flight by a rocket engine. It can fly a distance equal to the width of China. It has a stealthy design and is capable of carrying missiles that can hit enemy targets far beyond its visual range. Its mission is to marry artificial intelligence and its sensors to identify and evaluate enemy threats and then, after getting human sign-off, to move in for the kill. His escape from a burning jet earned him the callsign "Swamp Thing." Gen. Charles "CQ" Brown, Jr., the current Air Force chief of staff and former F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot, is a distinguished four-star general. He has also logged more than 3,000 flying hours — including 130 in combat, yet his callsign is, perhaps unexpectedly, "Swamp Thing." Well I tell you what — he was back in the cockpit the next week with a new callsign: Swamp Thing." "While General Brown is a proud, butt-kicking American airman, first and always, he's always been an operational leader of the Joint Force," Biden said during Thursday's announcement.

Gigi Sohn withdrew her stalled nomination for the Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday after Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) announced his opposition. Chair Jessica Rosenworcel will now have to advance her progressive agenda without a wingman, but her effort to kill a major media acquisition on the sly shows what she’s up to. Ms. Sohn blamed “unrelenting, dishonest and cruel attacks” for her failure to be confirmed in two Congresses. But she has a long record as an unrelenting partisan and her attacks on conservative media suggested she couldn’t be trusted to be fair-minded in regulating the airwaves.
