Gen X musicians often inspire Rodrigo's music. download the app Email address Sign up By clicking “Sign Up”, you accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy . Rodrigo has long paid dues to her Gen X predecessors, calling them a huge inspiration to her music. On her most recent album, "GUTS," the singer told Rolling Stone that she tapped into tunes from the all-woman ensemble Babes in Toyland to help craft "All-American Bitch" — a song questioning misogynistic expectations. It's clear that she's gaining some street cred among Gen X: Of course, she is buddies with Stefani.

Others in the GOP field have attacked transgender participation in athletics and proposed nationwide bans on affirming care for transgender minors. As an ethical matter, I think it’s gross,” said Tim Miller, a former Republican political operative who worked as communications director for former Florida Gov. Several people interviewed at a recent Trump rally argued children were being wrongly confronted with issues of gender identity. Box jellyfish do not have brains — yet, a new study shows they are still capable of learning. Researchers over time managed to train box jellyfish to avoid obstacles in a low-light environment. That means they can learn and change their behavior using only their nervous system, the study shows. Now, researchers have discovered the killer creatures are actually capable of learning, despite not having brains. AdvertisementAdvertisementGarm told the Times this research could help answer the question of whether the learning is universal for organisms with nervous systems.

CNN —Caribbean box jellyfish, animals that may appear to float through life aimlessly and don’t have a central brain, still have the ability to learn rapidly and retain information, new research has found. Caribbean box jellyfish, also known by the scientific name Tripedalia cystophora, have 24 eyes — six in each of four visual sensory centers called rhopalia. How jellyfish learnTo test the animals’ ability to learn, the researchers lined the inside of a round tank with gray and white stripes. The gray stripes would appear to the jellyfish’s 24 eyes as dark as a faraway mangrove root does in their natural habitat. “The scientists devised a very convincing experimental paradigm to quantify associative learning in this box jellyfish.

Onstage at the cozy Chelsea club Racket in May, Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist had an important announcement. “Ladies and gentlemen!” the frontman shouted to the mess of bopping heads and airborne limbs gathered before him. “Due to an unfortunate rift in the time-space continuum, it has been 11 years since the Hives played New York.” He tossed his arms triumphantly in the air, as if landing a triple axel. “We are back!” The crowd gleefully erupted. The band got swept into the “rock revival” of the moment alongside the White Stripes and the Vines.

Bacharach was both an innovator and throwback, and his career seemed to run parallel to the rock era. He was an eight-time Grammy winner, a prize-winning Broadway composer for "Promises, Promises" and a three-time Oscar winner. Fellow songwriter Sammy Cahn liked to joke that the smiling, wavy-haired Bacharach was the first composer he ever knew who didn't look like a dentist. Bacharach was essentially a pop composer, but his songs became hits for country artists (Marty Robbins), rhythm and blues performers (Chuck Jackson), soul (Franklin, Luther Vandross) and synth-pop (Naked Eyes). He's everybody's composer ... Burt Bacharach!"

A few men’s looks appeared on the runway at Celine’s fall/winter 2023 womenswear show, which summoned the indie-rock spirit of the early 2000s. LOS ANGELES—Hedi Slimane of LVMH fashion brand Celine waved his (skinny, black) magic wand Thursday night, transforming Los Angeles’s Wiltern Theater into a portal to the early 2000s. For his fall/winter 2023 womenswear show (which included some men’s styles), the brand’s creative lead sent 87 looks oozing with the debauched, indie-rock spirit of that period down the runway-cum-stage, set to a looped version of “Hello Operator” by the White Stripes, co-produced by the polymath Mr. Slimane himself. After the fashion show, the real show began: performances by Iggy Pop, Interpol, the Kills (as DJs) and the era’s ultimate mascots, the Strokes, now in their 40s.
