LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles will be the host team for the NFL's first regular-season game in Brazil on Friday, Sept. 6 — a day after the 2024 season opener, Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday. Goodell made news when he said the Eagles will play in Sao Paolo against a to-be-named opponent. It’ll be the first time in 54 years the NFL has played a game on Friday night of its opening weekend. The game will be played at the Corinthians Arena, home to Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians. The Eagles’ opponent, along with the kickoff time, will be announced closer to when the 2024 schedule is revealed this spring.

Manager Sarina Wiegman named her squad for the Lionesses' last two games of the Nations League on Tuesday. Team GB is made up of players from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and as the highest ranked British team, England are the nominated nation to qualify on Britain's behalf. This means Scotland may need to lose against England if they are to take part in the Olympics. The Netherlands have a home game with Belgium in their final group game.

"Doubling the prize money showcases the FA's clear commitment to the future of the Women's FA Cup and will help us maintain its stature as the most prestigious domestic women's cup competition in the world," Sue Campbell, the FA's director of women's football said. Last season's prize fund increased from 400,000 pounds to three million pounds. The men's FA Cup winners currently receive two million pounds.
