The narrow win continues the Cowboys’ domination over their division rivals. Afterwards, Dallas’ franchise QB spoke of how important the victory was for ‘America’s Team.’“It was huge, absolutely,” Prescott told reporters. Aubrey converted two fourth-quarter field goals to help seal the victory against the New York Giants. In the end, Amani Oruwariye intercepted Giants quarterback Daniel Jones with just seconds remaining to seal the victory for Dallas as they improved to 2-2 on the season; New York, meanwhile, falls to 1-3.

But now, as the dangers of a widening deficit and mounting debt grow, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are making little effort to address it. A budget deficit occurs when a country’s spending exceeds what it collects in revenue, primarily through taxes. The deficit is expected to widen under the status quo and could get even worse under proposals by both Harris and Trump, if enacted. During the Trump-Harris presidential debate earlier this month, the budget deficit was mentioned just twice, when Harris jabbed Trump for his proposals, which are expected to add considerably more to the deficit than hers. In the 2021 fiscal year, during which Trump left office, the country ran a $2.8 trillion deficit.

The war for the first battleground electoral vote may have been decided this week before a single ballot was cast. In the latest poll, 79% of Black registered voters say they would definitely vote, up from 68% in the June poll. The poll suggests Trump’s improvements among Black voters relative to 2020 are driven largely by Black voters under the age of 60. Harris is also generally viewed more favorably among Black registered voters compared with registered voters overall, even after accounting for Black voters’ overwhelming Democratic lean. Democratic Black likely voters, however, are twice as likely as Democratic likely voters overall to consider the economy their top issue (42%, compared with 19%). Results among Black registered voters have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 7.8 percentage points; among Black likely voters, it is plus or minus 7.7 percentage points.

According to a UBS survey of investors with at least $1 million of investible assets, 57% plan to vote for Harris and 43% plan to vote for Trump. Harris wins 91% of Democratic millionaires surveyed, 12% of Republicans and 60% of independents. Trump wins 88% of Republican millionaires, 9% of Democrats and 40% of independents. While they support Harris more broadly, the investors who were surveyed give Trump slightly higher marks on the economy and taxes. If Trump wins, they said defense and energy stocks look attractive, but if Harris wins, they said health care, sustainable investing and tech stocks look best, according to the survey.
