John Fithian, former head of NATO, formed The Fithian Group, which aims to improve movie production, distribution, and exhibition. The group is overseeing the building of a high-tech production studio in Europe and a data-infused direct distribution platform. Fithian worked for over twenty years fighting to keep movie theaters relevant in the constantly changing worlds of entertainment and technology. The business, which offers virtual production facilities to filmmakers and broadcasters, involves using a wall of light-emitting diode (LED) panels displaying images - a science-fiction landscape or a downtown cityscape - that are integrated into the scene as it is shot. "It's because we have the hardware that we can recreate in the virtual world," Yasuharu Nomura, Sony's head of virtual production, said in an interview. Sony says its virtual production business is growing by around 35% annually, faster than the overall market, with an increasing proportion of sales expected to come from services. Virtual production technology gained attention after its use in science-fiction show "The Mandalorian" from Walt Disney (DIS.N), which used in-house visual effects firm Industrial Light & Magic.

☆ New York Times union members set to walk out on Thursday after talks fail

The union said the New York Times during a meeting earlier in the day refused to meet for additional negotiating sessions to resolve the contract dispute by Thursday. The New York Times in an emailed statement to Reuters said the union's claims were inaccurate and negotiations were ongoing. The union said that the walkout would be the first full-day work stoppage at the New York Times since the late 1970s. Tech employees of the Times voted last March to unionize and have been trying separately to negotiate their first contract.

Acestea reprezintă de fapt produsul pe care ni l-am dorit prin crearea Asociației COR și a centrului Artcor. Festivalul Industriilor Creative deschide ușile Artcor pentru a prezenta reușitele, potențialul și oportunitățile sectorului creativ, dar și pentru a inspira și crește comunitatea creativă”, spune Viorica Cerbușca, directoarea Centrului Industriilor Creative Artcor. În zilele de 3 și 4 iunie, Artcor va prezenta oportunități de finanțare și studii creative, rezultatele absolvenților cursurilor Școlii Artcor, dar și o conferință pe antreprenoriatul creativ, fiind organizat un Startup Battle. Asociația COR este nucleul care mișcă dezvoltarea industriilor creative în Moldova, adunând o comunitate activă de 40 de antreprenori ce activează în sub-sectoarele industriilor creative în țară. Festivalul industriilor creative va găzdui și un tur deschis al centrului Mediacor, aflat în renovări, pe data de 3 iunie 2021.
