The Nifty rose more than 20% last year, while the Sensex was up nearly 19% in 2023. Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.22% to close at 38,837.46, while the broader Topix ended 0.38% down at 2,787.48. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was 0.12% higher, while the CSI 300 index added 0.75% to close at 3,615.67.
