CNN —YouTuber, science educator, and writer Hank Green announced on Friday that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of blood cancer that affects the lymph system. VidCon, an annual convention for YouTubers and other internet creators founded by John and Hank Green, announced that Hank Green would no longer be able to attend due to the diagnosis. What is Hodgkin lymphoma? The American Cancer Society estimates there will likely be around 8,830 new cases of Hodgkin lymphoma in 2023. The five-year relative survival rate for all patients diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma is around 89%, according to the American Cancer Society.

YouTube Shorts, the company's direct competitor to TikTok, recently surpassed 50 billion daily views and opened up monetization to creators. Still, under Wojcicki's tenure the video platform was rarely mentioned in discussions about the ills of social media, and the CEO was not regularly hauled in front of Congress like other tech leaders. Under Wojcicki's tenure, YouTube expanded monetization and released a slew of new ways to make money, like a merchandise shop.
YouTube, Arizona State University and "Crash Course" — the popular educational YouTube channel founded by vloggers Hank and John Green — on Tuesday announced the launch of Study Hall, a pathway to college credit and higher education resource. Study Hall provides guides about the college selection and admissions process, as well as foundational courses that students can receive college credit for. Hank Green said the idea for Study Hall came after years brainstorming solutions for the student loan debt crisis. Study Hall provides free access to four YouTube courses that cover subjects that are typically taken during early college years. YouTube wants to improve on the experience for learners on the platform without "breaking the magic" of informal YouTube education content, Kurtz said.

LinkedIn recently launched its second paid creator accelerator program for tech influencers. The second accelerator program plans to offer more networking opportunities and content analytics. LinkedIn has chosen 120 influencers to be part of its second US creator accelerator program, which offers financial grants, as well as access to workshops, coaches, and resources. "We really wanted to home in on creators within that space," said LinkedIn senior creator manager Jessica Oliveira, who added that technology is the number one industry for content creators on the platform. Based on feedback from participants in LinkedIn's first US creator accelerator program, the program plans on offering more content analytics features to show how creators' content performs over time, as well as more networking opportunities for creators.
