But there's another lesser-known S&P 500 index that you might not have heard of: the SPW. In contrast, the conventional S&P 500 allocates more weight to the biggest companies based on market capitalization. Big Tech names carry very little debt on their balance sheets, meaning that they are less affected by elevated interest rates. Bank of AmericaIn contrast, the cap-weight S&P 500 is approaching overvalued territory. Examples of SPW index funds include the Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) and Goldman Sachs Equal Weight U.S. Large Cap Equity ETF (GSEW).

The next round of filings for spot ether ETFs with the SEC is due today, part of the ongoing regulatory process required before spot ether ETFs can be launched. One thing's for sure: the launch of spot bitcoin ETFs this year has been a success. That's still true for this year, but two of the top 10 ETF inflows year to date have been into spot bitcoin ETFs: iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) at number four, and Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Trust (FBTC) at number eight. Would 50% of the inflows of the spot bitcoin ETF be a win? We'll talk about this with Matt Hougan from Bitwise Asset Management, one of the applicants for a spot ether ETF.

But let's say you're 30 years old and haven't started stashing money away; you may have difficulty getting there. And as a result of this, if you're going to live during a 30 or 40 year retirement. In Edelman's opinion, you're late to the game if you're over 25 and haven't started saving and investing. When people do set money aside, it's often in the wrong places, such as bank savings, money market accounts, and government bonds, Edelman said. All of this might sound complicated for a beginner, but diversification can be achieved through exchange-traded funds (ETFs), Edelman noted.

Are you referring to the S & P index itself, or one of the variations, and which symbol(s)? Thanks, Doug W. There are many exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that track the S & P 500 . The top three by assets under management, in order from largest to smallest, would be the State Street Global Advisors' SPDR S & P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) , BlackRock's iShares Core S & P 500 ETF (IVV) , and the Vanguard S & P 500 ETF (VOO) . As mentioned in the question, there are lots of ETFs that track the S & P 500, so by no means are these three the only games in town. Volume usually does pick up outside of normal trading hours when an event takes place, such as an earnings release.

ETF strategies to broaden beyond the mega-cap tech rally

Investors looking to diversify beyond the tech sector runup this year can consider a handful of alternative ETFs to reduce ballooning concentration risk, said one ETF strategist. "The consternation over the mega-cap tech names driving the market — I understand it," Todd Sohn, Strategas ETF and technical strategist, told CNBC's Bob Pisani on "ETF Edge" on Monday. "It's a very under-the-radar fund," Sohn said. "[When] you think of Vanguard, you think VOO [and] VTI , their fixed-income products. For tactical investors looking to diversify into a more balanced fund, Sohn recommended the RSP, which tracks the equally weighted performance of all S&P 500 stocks.

The Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) , which has even heavier exposure to Big Tech names, has brought in $5.8 billion of its own. "It's not really the overconcentration in the big names that worries me. It's actually the concentration in the big names compared to their earnings contribution," said Oktay Kavrak, director of communications and strategy at Leverage Shares. Whether you're passive or active, you probably have enough exposure to Nvidia and Apple and Microsoft," said Todd Sohn, ETF strategist at Strategas. There's a whiff of it, a scent of it," Sohn said, pointing out that money market funds attracted more cash than equity funds last week.

Many investors appear comfortable betting on stocks to continue rising after a surprising strong first half, according to fund flow data. Investors even plowed $1.9 billion into the Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (QQQ) , which is up almost 40% so far this year. The flows are notable because investors have been somewhat reluctant to put more money in stocks this year despite the rally. Aggregate Bond ETF (AGG) and the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF (BND) also saw inflows this week, so some investors are still hedging their bets on stocks. With investors starting to chase the recent rally, all major regions except Europe saw inflows.

Stephen Weiss bought shares of Microsoft , which could be a tactical trade for investors after sentiment around growth stocks improved on some better inflation data. Part of my portfolio's long term, but I'm also, you know, I can trade," Weiss said Monday on CNBC's "Halftime Report." So that's why I bought Microsoft. Despite the steep drop, Microsoft outperformed other mega-cap tech stocks investors found more risky, such as Amazon, which plunged more than 49%, and Alphabet, which dropped about 39%. SoFi's Liz Young said she agreed with Microsoft as a trade for short-term investors, though she warned investors against suddenly turning bullish on mega-cap tech stocks.

For ETF investors bearing the brunt of a down market in 2022, tax-loss harvesting might offer a silver-lining opportunity to redeem some of this year's setbacks. The strategy allows investors to sell securities at a loss in order to offset those losses against capital gains taxes on other securities. Tierney, senior portfolio strategist at Schwab Asset Management Solutions, told Bob Pisani on CNBC's "ETF Edge" on Monday. "You have this opportunity before the end of the year to sell that fund, realize the loss, [and] stay invested by buying an aggregate bond ETF," he said. Tierney said he is also perceiving levels of increased interest in the strategy among ETF investors, pointing to telltale signs among advisors and clients at Schwab.
PARIS, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Liberty Global's Telenet (TNET.BR) on Thursday said it was in talks with France's No. 1 telecoms company Orange (ORAN.PA) over a potential network access to Walloon cable operator VOO, which Orange plans to acquire. The companies have reached a memorandum of understanding which will structure further negotiations, Telenet said in a statement. The planned purchase - currently under European Union anti-trust review, a source has said - would give Orange control over the cable network in Belgium's French speaking Walloon region and part of the Brussels area. The announced acquisition of 75% in VOO dealt a blow to Orange Belgium's local rival Telenet, which had not been selected to enter into talks.

Subversive Capital filed a Form N-1A on Sept. 15 to establish two ETFs that will follow exactly how Democrat and Republican members of Congress are trading. Subversive Capital is working with Unusual Whales — a retail trading tool for individual stocks, options and crypto — to provide data for the ETFs. Recently, the subject of congressional members trading stocks has raised questions regarding the potential for insider trading and conflicts of interest, leading to the introduction of legislation that would restrict those in Congress from being able to buy and sell individual stocks. Here's what you need to know about the political implications of Congressional stock trading and the new ETFs that are being created to track it. It's also unclear what will happen to the two new ETFs if the congressional stock trading ban does eventually pass.

Her process didn't involve any strategic maneuvers in the stock market like swing or options trading. ETFs typically mimic a market index like the S&P 500. Should you invest in ETFs? Since ETFs offer built-in diversification and don't require large amounts of capital in order to invest in a range of stocks, they are a good way to get started. Some of the best $0 commission trading platforms include the below: TD AmeritradeAlly InvestE*TRADEVanguardCharles SchwabFidelity Though ETFs tracking the S&P 500 are some of the most popular, be aware that very few ETFs track the S&P 500 as a whole, rather just components of the index.
