The class-action litigation agreement includes payments of $1,500 for individual minors, according to Boston-based Veolia North America. Veolia North America had faced a trial this month in federal court, but that has been suspended pending final approval of its settlement agreement, the company said. The issues for a jury would have included whether Veolia North America breached care and, if so, whether that breach prolonged the crisis. Another trial is scheduled in October on behalf of seven other Flint children, according to their attorney, Corey Stern. The settlement announced Thursday by Veolia North America does not affect the October trial, Stern said.

But the recent shift toward e-cigarettes that can’t be refilled has created a new environmental dilemma. U.S. teens and adults are buying roughly 12 million disposable vapes per month. But the quantities used in vaping devices are too small to warrant salvage. Disposable e-cigarettes currently account for about 53% of the multi-billion U.S. vaping market, according to U.S. government figures, more than doubling since 2020. The company has incinerated more than 1.6 million pounds of vaping waste in recent years, mostly unsold inventory or discontinued products.

These stocks are key to improving plastic recycling

"Advanced recycling has immense potential to transform the plastic waste crisis," she said in a recent note to clients. It is a "silver bullet" for recycling plastic waste that can't be processed using traditional methods, she said. Ogundiya said investors have been warded off the theme by what she views as unfounded arguments around the maturity of advanced recycling technology. The idea has also been raised that there's an insufficient need for advanced recycling if plastic is banned. Of the two analysts surveyed by LSEG, one has a buy rating and one has a strong buy rating on Loop.

It’s a problem that’s vexed the wind energy industry and provided fodder for those who seek to discredit wind power. But in February, Danish wind company Vestas said it had cracked the problem. It announced a “breakthrough solution” that would allow wind turbine blades to be recycled without needing to change their design or materials. Wind energy has been growing at a fast pace. It is the world’s leading renewable energy technology behind hydropower, and plays a vital role in helping countries move away from fossil fuel energy, which pumps out planet-heating pollution.
watch nowIndeed, the market for recycled solar panel materials is expected to grow exponentially over the next several years. One recipient of this federal funding is First Solar, the largest solar panel manufacturer in the U.S. Massive wind turbines, blades are almost all recyclableRetired wind turbines present another recycling challenge, as well as business opportunities. How the circular renewable energy economy worksPlayers in the circular economy are determined not to let all that waste go to waste. Vestas Wind Systems has committed to producing zero-waste wind turbines by 2040, though it has not yet introduced such a version.
Veolia CEO: Ecological transformation is fueling growth

This chorus of support for the energy transition has ignited an almost frantic renewable energy development spree across the world, with green energy generation capacity growing at a record pace in every major economy. On January 1st, 2020, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) implemented ship emissions standards that slashed the maximum level of sulfur allowed in shipping fuels. As sulfur levels dropped more radiation was absorbed. Old solar panels face a similar predicament, especially ones that lack the efficiency of newer models and in the eyes of resellers are not worth collecting from old sites and homes. They can also face volatile market prices for the recycled and reclaimed materials they do manage to gather.
But most of the cement industry's emissions come from heating limestone in kilns, so this process probably won't make much of a dent. A furnace used in industrial cement production. New threats will corrode infrastructure M&A

Private equity infrastructure funds attracted $121 billion globally in 2021, nearly 60% more than in 2017, according to data from PitchBook. The rising cost of insuring against cyberattacks will also dull the appeal of telecoms networks and power grids. The urge to make the world a cleaner place means building and upgrading power infrastructure in both developed and developing countries. Pressure to establish energy security at home also means governments will want to own key infrastructure assets, regardless of the financial incentives. If private investors conclude some infrastructure assets have lost their appeal, states will step in.
Nov 9 (Reuters) - Revenues at France's Veolia (VIE.PA) jumped 49.1% in the nine months to the end of September, the company said on Wednesday, mostly driven by its takeover of rival Suez earlier this year. The waste and water company's revenues for the period climbed to 30.71 billion euros ($30.92 billion), while its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 5.2% year-on-year to 4.53 billion euros. The acquisition of Suez in February contributed 7.12 billion euros to revenues, with organic growth totalling 13.2% for Veolia and Suez together. "This very good performance is also the result of an integration of Suez ahead of schedule."
