CNN —Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence claims it has confirmed the use of Starlink satellite communications by Russian forces in occupied areas. It says it has intercepted conversations which indicate the Starlink terminals are being used to provide internet access to Russia’s 83rd Air Assault Brigade operating in the Donetsk region. Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, which owns Starlink, says it does not do business of any kind with the Russian government or its military. Starlink, which uses a network of satellites to provide broadband, says its service will not work in Russia, although the statement didn’t address whether it would work in occupied Ukraine. As Ukrainian submarine drones strapped with explosives approached the Russian fleet, they “lost connectivity and washed ashore harmlessly,” Isaacson writes.

A quote calling for Canada to mobilise ethnic Ukrainians to help Kyiv in its war against Russia is being baselessly attributed on social media to Ukraine’s defence minister, Oleksii Reznikov. It reads: “Canada is home to a huge number of ethnic Ukrainians, one of the largest national communities. Both Ukraine and Canada have denied the information contained in the posts. Global Affairs Canada, in response to a request from Reuters, said that Canada had not received such a request from Ukraine. Ukraine said the quote is fake, while Canada said it received no such request.

A fake screenshot of a Ukrainian Ministry of Defence tweet that criticises Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is being shared online. However, an advanced Twitter search produced no evidence that such a tweet exists on the verified account of Ukraine’s defence ministry (bit.ly/42EgDFv). Media outlets would likely cover the country’s defence ministry posting such strong wording about a prospective president. Reuters also found no evidence of the tweet existing within archived versions of the ministry’s verified Twitter profile (here). Search engines and social media searches produce no proof that Ukraine’s ministry of defence posted the tweet on its verified Twitter account.

LONDON, March 15 (Reuters) - Ukraine can defend a $3 billion Eurobond lawsuit brought by Russia on the basis it was forced to assume the debt in 2013 because of threats of force by Moscow, the United Kingdom's top court ruled on Wednesday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy described the ruling as a "decisive victory against the aggressor", writing on Twitter: "Justice will be ours." The UK Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that Ukraine can defend the lawsuit at trial on the basis that Russia’s threats of military force amounted to illegitimate pressure on Ukraine to assume the $3 billion debt. Lawyers representing Russia had told the court in 2019 that the "geopolitical dispute" between Ukraine and Russia at the time of the contract had nothing to do with whether the debt was enforceable. Reed also said the appeal "was heard before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last year and neither party has argued that the invasion is of any relevance to our decision".
