However, USA Basketball has made a “terrible decision,” according to CNN Sport analyst Christine Brennan, by omitting a phenomenon like Clark from the roster. Perhaps that’s one reason why data indicate more people – especially young adults, who are more prone to second-screen viewing and multitasking – are watching shows in their primary language with the subtitles on. The survey found that those using subtitles cite two primary factors in equal measure: Subtitles enhance their comprehension, and they help them understand accents. The service has increased the number of films and series that support audio descriptions (AD) and subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH). The trend suggests viewers are actively sampling internationally produced material as they seek (and often stumble upon) options via streaming platforms.

CNN —Former NBA player Chase Budinger is set to make his debut at the Olympics later this year, though he won’t be doing it on the hardwood. The 36-year-old has earned a spot on the US beach volleyball team alongside partner Miles Evans having switched sports seven years ago. According to NBC, Budinger will become the first person to have played an NBA regular season game and appeared at the Olympics in beach volleyball. He’s also the only athlete to make a career in both sports, according to AVP Beach Volleyball. This year’s Olympic beach volleyball competition will take place under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower in Paris with games getting underway on July 27.

CNN —The driver of the pickup truck involved in a Tuesday crash that killed eight people and left more than 40 injured in north-central Florida has been arrested and charged with eight counts of DUI manslaughter, according to a news release from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The 2010 International Bus carrying “approximately 53 farm workers” and a 2001 Ford Ranger sideswiped each other around 6:35 a.m., about 15 miles west of Ocala, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement. The Ford, “for unknown reasons, traveled toward the center line” before the vehicles struck each other, Lt. Patrick Riordan of the Florida Highway Patrol said at a news conference at the scene. The bus then left the roadway, went through a fence and overturned. There’s no reason for me to be involved with these individuals.
