STORRS, Conn. (AP) — UConn guard Azzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the season with a noncontact knee injury she sustained last week during practice, the school said Wednesday. Fudd tore the medial meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee when she came down after a jump shot on Nov. 14 in practice, the school said. The school said Fudd will have surgery at UConn Health at a “later date.”“We’re all just so upset for Azzi,” coach Geno Auriemma said in a statement. She missed 10 games with a foot injury during her freshman season and 22 games because of knee injuries during her sophomore campaign. Fudd’s injury comes after the return of another UConn star, Paige Bueckers, who missed all of last season and 19 games during her sophomore campaign with knee injuries.

Following the news that actor Kirstie Alley died of colon cancer at age 71, several doctors and cancer specialists urged people to get the recommended screenings for the disease. Alley's manager confirmed to NBC News on Tuesday that the actor died of colon cancer. Colorectal cancer is the fourth-most common form of cancer in the U.S. and the second-most deadly behind lung cancer. The National Cancer Institute estimates that around 151,000 cases of colorectal cancer will be diagnosed this year. Colon cancer can be difficult to diagnose, however, since symptoms can resemble those of other conditions like hemorrhoids or irritable bowel syndrome.
