CNN —The Indiana Fever’s early season struggles continued on Tuesday with an 88-82 defeat to the Los Angeles Sparks, but Caitlin Clark produced her most scintillating performance so far. She is now also the fastest rookie in WNBA history to record 100 points and 50 assists. “Honestly, I think I just played with an aggressive mindset,” Clark told reporters. Despite the Fever’s difficult start to the season, Clark continues to draw huge crowds with more than 16,000 again in attendance for Tuesday’s game, including Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton. Irving has twice enjoyed success with USA Basketball (USAB) – winning gold at the 2014 FIBA World Cup and the Rio 2016 Olympics – and had outlined his desire to once again be part of an Olympic roster. CNN —The Los Angeles Lakers produced their highest scoring night in 37 years on Monday, outlasting the Indiana Pacers 150-145 in a clash between two potent offenses. The Lakers, led by the superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, had four players score at least 25 points in what was the team’s highest scoring game of the season. Indiana held a six-point lead after the first quarter before a scoring explosion from LA saw the team put up 86 points across the second and third quarters alone. “We played (the Pacers) in the (In-Season Tournament) championship, and we know how high-powered an offense they are,” said James. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard defended his NBA 3-point contest title by finishing with 26 points in the final round during All-Star Saturday night. This one nearly ended without Lillard advancing to the final round. Then in the final, Young and Towns each put up 24 points, giving Lillard a chance to win it with a late shooting flurry that gave him the title. Team All-Stars' win in the shooting contest tied the score at 200, forcing the tiebreaker. Haliburton needed just 38.3 seconds for a win that continued a big weekend for the Pacers, who are hosting their first All-Star weekend since 1985.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia 76ers team president Daryl Morey expressed optimism on Friday that reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid would return from a knee injury in time for a possible postseason run. “We're hopeful,” Morey said before the 76ers hosted the Atlanta Hawks and three days after Embiid underwent surgery on his left knee. The initial report from the 76ers said that Embiid would be “re-evaluated” in four weeks. Morey declined to describe the exact procedure that Embiid had, which would have provided a clue to the significance of the injury. “Our priority was to get a big, but we wanted to add to our playoff rotation this year,” Morey said.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The slumping Philadelphia 76ers have acquired guard Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers for Marcus Morris Jr., Furkan Korkmaz and three second-round draft picks, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Thursday. The Sixers also sent Daniel House and a 2024 second-round pick to the Detroit Pistons, the person said. The House trade creates $4.3 million in cap space as part of the traded player exception. The trades have opened salary cap and roster space for the Sixers to pursue a player on the buyout market. Hield has been one of the top 3-point shooters in the NBA for years in both volume and makes.
