CNN —Carlos Sainz claimed an impressive victory at the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, breaking Max Verstappen’s dominant grip over this F1 season as the Red Bull driver was forced to retire from the race. The Spaniard began the race second on the grid, behind pole-sitter Verstappen, and stuck close to the three-time world champion before easily overtaking him on the second lap to take the lead. For just the first time in two years, he retired from a Grand Prix, citing brake failure. Of course you always want to finish the races but it’s a mechanical sport,” Verstappen said following his first retirement since the 2022 Australian Grand Prix. BENGALURU, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Indian tyre maker Apollo Tyres Ltd. (APLO.NS) reported a better-than-expected second-quarter profit on Tuesday, boosted by higher auto sales and lower input costs. Consolidated profit more than doubled to 4.74 billion rupees ($56.94 million) for the quarter ended Sept. 30 from 1.79 billion rupees a year earlier. Analysts, on average, had expected a profit of almost 4.33 billion rupees, according to LSEG data. Revenue from operations rose over 5% to 62.8 billion rupees, with revenue in the APMEA (Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa) segment, the largest contributor to revenue, rising 4.5% to 44.73 billion rupees. Apollo peers MRF Tyres (MRF.NS) and Goodyear India (GDYR.NS) also logged profit jumps on the back of higher demand and easing costs.

SUZUKA, Japan, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Red Bull's runaway Formula One championship leader Max Verstappen roared back from defeat in Singapore to set the fastest lap in the first practice for the Japanese Grand Prix on Friday. Verstappen's best time of one minute 31.647 seconds was 0.626 quicker than Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, the winner in Singapore. McLaren's Lando Norris was third fastest, 0.745 off the pace with a late switch to the soft tyres, with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc fourth and 0.927 slower than Verstappen. Perez, 151 points behind Verstappen after 15 of 22 races, was only 11th and 1.396 seconds slower than his team mate. Red Bull are set to retain their constructors' title in Japan on Sunday, needing to score only a point more than Mercedes.

"We nailed the race," said Sainz after his second career win for the Italian team and first since Silverstone last year. The Spaniard eked out his hard tyres for 42 laps, winning at the slowest possible speed, for Ferrari's first victory since Charles Leclerc triumphed in Austria in July last year. No team has ever won every race in a season of more than 10 rounds but Red Bull had looked capable of doing so until Singapore struck. Mercedes trimmed Red Bull's lead in the constructors' standings to 308 points, keeping them waiting at least another weekend for the title. Verstappen, who started on the hard tyres, moved up to second with Perez fourth but they were soon overhauled and plunged down the field after stopping under normal conditions.

First, banks’ financial statements appear to be ignoring climate risks, which means financial institutions are probably also leaving those dangers out of their capital calculations. Second, a regulatory regime that understates the expected consequences of climate change is allowing the banks’ blind spot to persist. The few banks that refer to climate risks in their accounts tend to conclude that it is not material. Second, banks need to take a prudent view of climate risks in their financial statements. The sooner the banking sector internalises climate risks in its accounting, the better the chance of building a sustainable future.
