CNN —There are a variety of methods golfers can call upon to soothe their anxiety in the face of a dreaded playoff. Three beers and eight nerve-wracking holes later, the 27-year-old stamped his ticket to his first ever PGA Tour event. Nick Bienz works at Golf Galaxy, has never played any pga tour sanctioned event, he is so nervous he’s pounding beers. He had attempted to qualify for events before, including several on the Korn Ferry Tour – the PGA Tour’s developmental circuit – but had never been so close to getting over the line. “I don’t remember hitting the putt,” Bienz added to the PGA Tour.

Apple 's commitment to privacy could soon pay off by giving it a leg up over its competitors, according to Rosenblatt. That's because Apple, unlike AI predecessors, has put privacy front and center as part of its AI marketing push and architecture," Crockett wrote. "Apple laid out what it called a Private Cloud Compute architecture that keeps personal information on personal devices, and does not allow non-permissioned release of that information to anyone else, including Apple and third party LLMs," he added. An additional advantage for Apple comes from its AI approach, which allows the firm some immunity from cost pressures at hyperscalers. Against this backdrop, Crockett sees the scales "tipping the AI risk/reward in favor of Apple."

All of the back-and-forth movement since 2015 has produced what could be a monstrous bullish pattern. But we're trying to capture a major breakout from an area that's done next to nothing in nearly a decade. INVA, on the other hand, bottomed in March 2023, and just recently broke out of a large inverse head & shoulders pattern. In downtown Nairobi, the capital, the strong smell of tear gas still wafted through the air after the clashes between protesters and the police. Large rocks and a burned car were strewed next to the City Hall offices that protesters had breached. Police officers also cordoned off the streets leading to Parliament and were not allowing pedestrians to pass. Although businesses were slowly reopening across Kenya, newspapers being sold on the streets of Nairobi captured the chaos of the previous day. “Pandemonium,” the front page of the Daily Nation newspaper said.

CNN —The Supreme Court on Wednesday sided with the former mayor of an Indiana city accused of accepting a bribe in exchange for a towing contract, the latest decision in which the high court has weakened federal anti-corruption laws. James Snyder, the former mayor of Portage, Indiana, was convicted of accepting $13,000 from a trucking company weeks after it was awarded a contract. The law at issue makes it a federal crime for local officials to “corruptly” take anything valued at over $5,000. Campbell Soup 's acquisition of Rao's parent Sovos Brands is a key part of why JPMorgan is now bullish on the Camden, New Jersey-based food company for the first time in 15 years. The Rao's brand alone brought in nearly $775 million in annual net sales in 2023, driving Sovos sales above $1 billion last year. The fund uses a formula-based strategy for investing, according to its portfolio managers Neil Hennessy, Ryan Kelley, and Joshua Wein. Stocks the fund owns Most of the stocks in the outperforming fund aren't actually in tech but in the industrials, consumer, financials and health-care sectors — because of the formula they use. Neil Hennessy said investors need to look at value stocks that offer attractive price-to-sales multiples and avoid what he sees as a dying "Magnificent Seven" trade. While Hennessy admitted that the Magnificent 7 stocks have performed well, he said their average price-to-earnings multiple sits at around 47 while their price-to-sales multiple is above 12. "The reality of our world is money is shifting over to value," said the University of San Diego alum. But Hennessy said the stock is attractively priced, with a price-to-sales multiple of 0.9 and P/E ratio of just 7. But the average price target implies the stock can turn around and surge more than 27% over the coming year.

I would have never guessed that being single, juggling my career, graduate school, and parenting two toddlers would be stamped on my bingo card. As a single mom of two, every achievement feels even sweeter. Graduating with a Master's of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington with two toddlers feels more than a personal achievement. As a first-generation high school and college graduate, I knew obtaining another degree would be challenging. When my children napped, I scheduled work blocks to focus on work calls and client updates.

Tyrian purple was a highly prized pigment developed in the Bronze Age, and it retained its status into the late medieval period. Several pottery fragments had residue of Tyrian purple pigment, the research team revealed. The well-preserved pigment could be used to dye textiles today, lead study author Dr. Lydia Berger said. Once collected, the snails had to be kept alive until the purple dye makers were ready to crush them and extract the mollusk’s mucus glands. The process came with a fishy odor, one that the researchers recognized when they came across the purple pigment residue in the recent excavation at Kolonna, she added.

The housing market is unlikely to recover for several years and affordability won't get any better unless a recession hits, according to Bank of America economists. "The US housing market is stuck, and we are not convinced it will become unstuck anytime soon," Bank of America economist Michael Gapen and others said in a Monday note. In some respects, the housing market is a victim of its own success: Buyers swarmed in after Covid hit, taking advantage of mortgage rates around 3% and even less. Bank of America does expect some moderation in regard to prices, but again not for a few years. As things stand, the NAR's housing affordability index , after rising earlier this year, tumbled in May to its lowest level since November 2023.

Why water is the best drink during a heat wave

We know that keeping hydrated is important to staying healthy in the summer heat, but is water still the best drink during a heat wave? CNN: When it’s really hot outside, is water still the best fluid, or should people turn to sports drinks? Energy drinks are different from sports drinks, which are meant to help you restore water and electrolytes. I urge parents to be careful to distinguish between sports drinks and energy drinks. Sports drinks probably aren’t needed, and, again, it’s advisable for children to avoid energy drinks.

Adam Jonas, a well-known auto analyst at the investment bank, said Ford remains his top pick in the auto sector. Now, Jonas said Ford could take the spotlight as the focus within the sector shifts from electric vehicle investment to capital discipline. It comes at a tumultuous time for automakers as they grapple with softer-than-anticipated electric vehicle demand. Given an ongoing "unwind" in the electric vehicle story, he said Ford has the potential to flip the stock performance. Jonas' $17 price target for Ford implies the Detroit-based company's stock can rally around 39% over the next 12 months.

New York CNN —Millions of Miniverse toy sets made by toymaker MGA Entertainment have been recalled because they pose a serious risk of skin burn, eye and respiratory irritation when touched, inhaled or ingested, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday. The recall involves the “Make it Mini” sets which contain resins that, when liquid, can cause those injuries and irritations to young children and adults alike. The CPSC also found that the resins contain chemical compounds called “acrylates” in amounts that are prohibited in children’s products. The CPSC said MGA Entertainment has received 26 reports of incidents with the toy sets from children and adults, including reports of skin burns and irritation, and respiratory irritation, with one report that it triggered a case of asthma in the user. 21 million Miniverse toy sets are being recalled due to danger of skin burn, eye and respiratory irritation.
