Read previewYou may have heard a version of the phrase, "AI won't take your job, it's somebody using AI that will take your job." Should you be more worried about losing your job to a human using AI or to the AI itself? He said software engineers who didn't experiment with AI tools usually didn't get the job. He asks all new hires what AI tools they use. "I think that the same is true of some of these basic, AI tools," he added.

The debate between Donald J. Trump and President Biden had analysts in Asia fretting. During Thursday night’s debate, President Biden told former President Donald J. Trump that the United States is the “envy of the world.”After watching their performance, many of America’s friends might beg to differ. In Europe and Asia, the back-and-forth between the blustering Mr. Trump and the faltering Mr. Biden set analysts fretting — and not just about who might win the election in November. CNN —CNN Opinion asked political contributors to weigh in on the first presidential debate of the 2024 race. On the other hand, President Joe Biden did not meet expectations and may have increased concerns about his age and ability to lead for another four years. Debates are always more about style than substance, and President Joe Biden’s style was simply awful. Did President Joe Biden come off as a leader or a loser? And yes, the visuals in this first presidential debate of the cycle were phenomenally important.

A group of some of the most powerful social conservatives in the country, fearful that Donald J. Trump may push to water down the Republican Party’s official position on abortion, sent a pointed letter to the former president this month imploring him to keep strong anti-abortion language in the party platform. The letter, which has not previously been reported but was reviewed by The New York Times, is the latest sign of the fierce behind-the-scenes lobbying underway over the language that will officially outline the party’s principles. The Republican platform has not been updated in eight years and is especially outdated on the topic of abortion after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. The letter urges Mr. Trump to “make clear that you do not intend to weaken the pro-life plank.” Specifically, it asks him to commit to keeping language in the platform that the party supports a “human life amendment to the Constitution” and legislation to “make clear that the 14th Amendment’s protections apply to children before birth.”It was co-signed by 10 anti-abortion leaders, including Marjorie Dannenfelser of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Ralph Reed of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Penny Nance of Concerned Women for America. Ms. Dannenfelser delivered the letter via email to Mr. Trump’s top adviser, Susie Wiles, on June 10, as the party prepares to hold its national convention in Milwaukee starting July 15.

In the first 2024 presidential debate in Atlanta on Thursday night, the performances of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump failed to live up to that expectation. Former President Donald Trump's presentation fared better than his substance, says champion debate coach, Graham Todd. In that regard, Trump failed. I don’t know more about Trump’s position and solution to the war in Gaza than I did before the debate. And Biden didn’t help himself out by overextending his answers to the point of confusion.

People worried about bills, feeling overwhelmed about overspending or concerned about money management may expect a “money talk” to lead to an argument, so they avoid bringing up the topic, according to a report from researchers at Cornell University and Yale University, published this month in The Journal of Consumer Psychology. Yet prior research has found that communicating about money helps couples spend more responsibly and better manage their debt. Why is it so difficult for some people to talk about money with their partners in the first place? Aja Evans, a financial therapist in New York, said people may feel ashamed that they are having money troubles. (Financial therapists aim to help clients understand how their emotions and beliefs about money can affect their financial behavior.)

U.K.: 'Biden struggles ... Trump lies'In the U.K., the Guardian pointed to issues with both Biden and Trump at the debate, headlining its story: "Biden struggles to land lines as Trump lies in first presidential debate." Meanwhile, the BBC suggested Biden struggled with Trump's attacks, titling its live blog of the debate: "Biden stumbles in first presidential debate as Trump avoids key questions." Biden struggled repeatedly and Trump repeated falsehoods, it said, adding that the debate was "marked by personal attacks." In another story, the newspaper summarized the debate: "Biden disgraces himself, Trump wastes his chance, but the true losers of the first TV debate in the U.S. election campaigns are the Americans."

Talking pointsAll eyes will be on CNN at 9 p.m. Eastern, when President Biden and Donald Trump face off in their first debate since 2020. Among the keenest watchers will be executives and investors looking for signs about how the candidates might handle the economy and business in a second term. There will be plenty to scrutinize in the 90-minute, audience-free debate, including what the candidates say and how they say it. What will Biden and Trump say about some of the key issues? In Thursday night’s debate, “markets probably care more about presentation than policy pledges,” Paul Donovan, an economist at UBS, wrote in a client note.

For Goldman Sachs' investment bankers, the answer may just be over the horizon. Top Goldman executives told Business Insider that the investment bank is poised to roll out a series of generative AI tools to its workforce as soon as next year. Lee, a Goldman partner, said it could take years for the consequences of this tech on the bank's workflows to be fully understood. But he is overall optimistic about how generative AI, an advanced type of machine learning, will impact its workforce. Many junior bankers spend time on tasks that can sometimes feel "relatively routine," Lee said.

He’s going to be a killer rebounder, monster screener and will consistently establish his position even against some of the stronger NBA players. I’m done doubting Edey, even as an NBA player. As an enormous ballhandler with serious touch and incredible vision as a passer, Topić is clearly an NBA player, even if it doesn’t all translate. Shannon is an elite athlete, but the NBA game requires more nuance, especially if he continues to be an inconsistent shooter. However, I also think he’s more than just a floor spacer on offense in spot-up situations and potentially as an off-ball scorer.

Harvard needs to do more work to promote diversity education and promote multiple perspectives on campus, the task force chairs recommended. The antisemitism task force sought to get Harvard to clarify its values, act against discrimination and hate, improve the university’s disciplinary process, promote dialogue and training on the topic and support Jewish life on campus. Alan Garber, Harvard’s interim president, said he appreciated the recommendations and the task forces’ candor. A sweep of the executive and legislative branches by either Democrats or Republicans in the November election could spell more risk to crypto assets, according to TD Cowen. "Divided government is the best possible outcome for financial firms, housing and crypto as we believe there would be bipartisan legislative and regulatory agreements that could survive future political changes," TD Cowen's Jaret Seiberg wrote in a note Monday. "If Biden wins, a Republican Senate could limit his ability to put aggressive regulators in power," Seiberg added. "Trump would likely have a GOP Senate, but House Democrats could block his legislative agenda.
