CNN —A 19th-century shipwreck packed with crates of unopened champagne has been found in the depths of the Baltic Sea. The long-forgotten vessel was brimming with bubbly, according to the team of Polish divers who made the discovery off the coast of Sweden. “The whole wreck is loaded to the brim with crates of champagne, mineral water, and porcelain,” Tomasz Stachura, the leader of the Baltictech diving team that found the wreck, said in a press release sent to CNN. The divers said the wreck was in very good condition. While the champagne certainly provided cause for celebration, it was the bottles of water that perhaps shed most light on the vessel’s history.

It was a stealth assault, the flattened boxes piling up as the deliveries of equipment, tools and other sundries for a research project flowed in. This small mountain of cardboard had done me the service of protecting expensive, precious deliveries, but it barely weighed anything and it’s just paper: flimsy and weak. Paper is something that we habitually underestimate. Members of the laboratory where I did my doctoral work at Cambridge had a favorite demonstration to impress audiences on open-house days.

MILIOU, Cyprus Dec 1 (Reuters) - Deep within the lush mountainous forests of Cyprus, survivors of the Oct. 7 music festival bloodbath in Israel practice yoga, paint and meditate as they try to come to grips with the trauma. Israeli businessman Yoni Kahana, who operates the retreat on the east Mediterranean island, is hosting survivors free of charge. Aided by an Israeli NGO, IsraAID, the Secret Forest retreat in the mountains above Paphos in western Cyprus has a steady rotation of festival survivors seeking solace. He said more than 1,800 Israelis had signed up to a programme which includes yoga, therapy sessions, hiking and meditation overseen by up to 20 volunteer therapists. Many trauma survivors turn to art in an attempt to externalise their feelings, painting with red, white and black, the colours of trauma, before adding rays of sun, a rainbow, or a flower, said therapist Lilach Galkin.
