“Our study of over two million individuals from 160+ countries runs contrary to this idea.”People with access to home internet and/or mobile internet and actively use internet report greater well-being across eight different categories — including life satisfaction and social life, according to a study published Monday in the journal Technology, Mind, and Behavior. Across all those ways of crunching the numbers, about 85% showed that those who have and use the internet report greater well-being that those who do not, according to the research. Other research has shown that the connection between mobile internet use and well-being is complex and varies among individuals, he added. “Our results might then simply indicate that individuals with more money, access to healthcare, etc, report greater well-being,” Vuorre said in an email. The internet is used for a wide variety of things — including online banking, shopping, finding services, reading the news and cyberbullying — and those different uses will have different effects on well-being, Vuorre said.

The faces that hold social currency on social media — with fox-lift brows and buccal fat removed — are increasingly bleeding into real life. AdvertisementEven before the remote-work boom, writers noticed social media was shaping the way people looked. The shift from surgical procedures to minimally invasive injections has also made cosmetic work safer and more available to average people. "The gap between the identity we present on social media and the self we see in the mirror is growing," Widdows told me. As more people get cosmetic work done, the rest of us lose touch with what's normal.

CNN —A highly venomous snake is on the loose after escaping a home in Tilburg, the Netherlands on Monday afternoon, a municipality spokesperson told CNN on Wednesday. Local authorities are warning people to keep their distance and avoid approaching the poisonous green mamba, which is between 1.8 and 2 meters (6 to 6.5 feet) long. In the unlikely event someone is bitten by the snake, they should immediately call the emergency services, the spokesperson said. There are three species of green mamba, all native to Africa – one is found in the east and south of the continent, another in the west and another in the center. The municipality spokesperson did not specify which species the missing snake belonged to.

Scottish Liam Hunter, 30, told Reuters attending the three-day festival made him feel better about himself. The Dutch festival started by accident after organiser and amateur painter Bart Rouwenhorst placed an ad in a regional newspaper in 2005 for 15 models with red hair and 150 people responded. In 2013, the festival entered the Guinness World Records book as the largest gathering of people with natural red hair with 1,672 redheads in the traditional group picture.
