Outside of the ABC27 news station where Casey and McCormick debated, a slew of people aligned with Casey’s campaign held signs calling McCormick an out-of-state candidate. McCormick attempted to deflect the line of attack on the debate stage by arguing Casey has little show for his long career in public office. “When you don’t have a record to run on, which Senator Casey does not, you attack your opponent,” McCormick shot back. Impact Plastics has forcefully denied those claims, saying late Thursday the allegations are false, and no employee was stopped from leaving. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two more tropical cyclones growing stronger in the Atlantic on Thursday. Hurricane Kirk and Tropical Storm Leslie currently pose no direct threat to land, but threaten to bring more rain to regions already reeling in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The NHC classifies this system as a major hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 125 miles per hour and a minimum central pressure of 948 millibars. It’s currently located 515 miles southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands, but there are no hazards affecting land at this time. Heavy rainfall from this system is not currently expected to affect parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia that were hard-hit by Helene.

Amazon’s election coverage plan engendered lots of TV industry chatter when it was first reported by Puck and Variety over the weekend. The notion of a Big Tech heavyweight distributing its own election night TV show would have been hard to imagine a decade ago. Williams, 65, is a product of broadcast TV who led NBC’s election night coverage in 2008 and 2012. The Amazon election event – which has yet to be named – will be his first major project since signing off MSNBC three years ago. If election night morphs into something like election week, as it did in 2020, it remains to be determined whether Amazon’s live coverage would continue.
