VAR has been under huge scrutiny since it was introduced to the Premier League at the beginning of the 2019-20 season. CNN —Denver Nuggets star point guard Jamal Murray has come under criticism after he was spotted throwing a heat pack onto the court during the reigning champions’ 106-80 playoff loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. While on the bench toward the end of the second quarter, Murray could be seen throwing the heat pack while the Timberwolves were on offense. The object landed near the basket with several players in the vicinity of the heat pack. CNN —Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has been found guilty of an anti-doping violation by Switzerland’s Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and has received a four-year ban from competitions. In Beijing, Valieva’s Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) team had finished first ahead of the US and Japan – with Canada finishing fourth – and no medals were subsequently awarded due to the doping controversy. CNN Sport has contacted the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the ISU, the Japanese Olympic Committee, the Canadian Olympic Committee, and the Russian Olympic Committee for further comment. RUSADA had changed its initial stance and sought a punishment that “may include or be limited to a reprimand” for Valieva, CAS announced in February last year. Russian athletes were competing as neutral athletes at the Winter Olympics in Beijing due to a previous ban for doping non-compliance.

CNN —US skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin – the most successful skier of all time – was taken by ambulance to a local clinic following a crash in the women’s downhill event in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on Friday. Shiffrin, 28, was seen limping away from the run, using her skis to support her as she made her exit surrounded by medical staff. “Mikaela Shiffrin was taken by ambulance to the clinic in Cortina and is being evaluated for a left leg injury. The incident comes after Shiffrin’s partner, Norwegian skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, suffered a “brutal” full-speed crash at a World Cup event earlier in January. CNN —Italian soccer team Udinese has been ordered to play one game behind closed doors following the alleged racist abuse aimed at AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan during its game on Saturday, Italian league Serie A announced Tuesday. Udinese, a team in the Italian top division, was playing at home when the incident occurred. Following the alleged racist chants directed at the goalkeeper by Udinese fans, Maignan led his team off the pitch at Bluenergy Stadium in Udine.
