European chip stock ASML "is almost in a quasi-monopoly position" to drive developments in artificial intelligence over the next decade, according to fund manager Marcus Morris-Eyton. Its customers include TSMC , which makes the AI chips designed by Nvidia , AMD and Intel , as well as Samsung and SK Hynix . Shares fell by 7% on the day as the company provided what analysts labeled "soft" guidance for the current quarter. Earlier this week, the company opened a test laboratory for its next-generation lithography equipment with Belgium chip research firm Imec. "Ultimately, if you need AI, if you need [electric vehicles], if you need data centers, you need more chips," Morris-Eyton added.

For over a decade, companies around the world have attempted to create smart contact lenses, but they never got down to incorporating electronic components to make a safe battery. LEE SEOK WOO: So, when I decided to work on contact lenses and the power supply to the smart contact lens, I was concerned about the safety because the lithium-ion battery has the issue of the explosion or catching fire. Unlike traditional contact lenses, smart contacts have the potential to do more than just correcting the users' eyesight. So, it might be hard to implant all the devices into one smart contact lens. And of course, the technology needs to be patented first before these smart contact lenses become a reality.

Scientist Lee Seok Woo said a scene from a "Mission Impossible" movie inspired his latest invention: batteries for smart contact lenses. In the fourth film of the series, an agent wears contact lenses capable of facial recognition and eye tracking. "I was thinking, 'How can I work in this field of smart contact lenses?'" He realized smart contact lenses would need safe and compact batteries, which would be crucial for advancing development of these devices. Contact lenses themselves are extremely thin, at 0.5 mm, thus the size and flexibility of these batteries are key to preventing user discomfort.

Boeing’s Starliner sits on the launchpad at sunset, at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, on Friday, May 31. The entire stack, including the rocket and spacecraft, was rolled back from the launchpad for testing and repairs. Several issues also cropped up during the June 1 launch attempt, which was called with less than four minutes left on the countdown clock prior to liftoff. But moments before liftoff, the ground launch sequencer — the computer that tells the rocket to launch — triggered an automatic hold that prevented the launch. The United Launch Alliance team investigated the issue and replaced the computer over the weekend, and deemed Starliner ready to fly once more.

Knox, Sollecito and Ivory Coast native Rudy Guede, whose DNA was present in the murder room, were all convicted of the murder in 2009. Guglielmo Mangiapane/Reuters/FileKnox and Sollecito’s murder convictions were overturned by a Perugia appellate court in 2011 after an independent review of key forensic evidence, only to have that acquittal overturned by Italy’s supreme court in 2013. The 36-year-old Seattle native, now a mother of two, along with Sollecito, were definitively cleared in 2015 of Kercher’s murder after Italy’s supreme court voided the 2013 re-conviction. After being cleared of murder, Knox remained convicted of slander against Lumumba, a ruling upheld by Italy’s supreme court in 2015. The decision will then have to go to Italy’s supreme court once more.

The concept of space elevators isn't new, but engineering such a structure would be no easy feat, and many other issues besides technology stand in the way. Japan aims to build a space elevator by 2050Japan's Skytree Tower is tall, but it's nowhere near as big as a space elevator. AdvertisementAccording to some designs, space elevators would shuttle cargo to orbit on electromagnetic vehicles called climbers. Other estimates for space elevators in general have put the price at $227 per pound. For instance, a space elevator's tether would be under such incredible tension that it would be prone to snapping, Johnson said.

The departure of the company’s chief product officer adds to a “wall of worry” Raymond James analysts said. Choe joined Lululemon more than seven years ago and became chief product officer in 2018, according to her LinkedIn. “I think that there’s a lot of people out there who believe that she was the person behind the scenes and was the most instrumental to Lululemon’s success,” Nikic said. Lulu has been “hyper aware” of dupe culture, Nikki Neuburger, then its Chief Brand Officer, previously said in an interview with CNN Business. However, Lululemon wasn’t stocked enough in these smaller sizes, which could have led these younger shoppers to competitors, Nikic said.

One in five older Americans have no retirement savings, Social Security doesn't feel like much of a guarantee, and the pension era is over. While the widespread shift over the last five decades to 401(k)s for retirement savings has meant some Americans can't afford the burden of being primarily responsible for their retirement finances, others have been able to work the system to their advantage. Tuesday’s election results, in which Prime Minister Modi sealed a rare third term, only enhance the sense of gloom and doom for Indian Muslims like me. With the BJP back in power – albeit without the supermajority it had vowed – my only hope lies in a politically weakened Modi now. A weakened Modi shall, hopefully, translate into a more robust India and more secure minorities. In the days and months to come, things could get seriously tough for Indian Muslims. It could be the norm for the rest of India soon as the BJP tries to deny Indian Muslims the right to follow Islamic laws in civil matters, a right granted by the Indian Constitution.

Investors looking to bet on another rally for major tech stocks should take a look at some options trades that are curiously cheap, according to Goldman Sachs. The "Magnificent Seven" was the key to the stock market rally last year, but the group has splintered a bit in recent months. Top NewsImage William J. Burns, the director of the C.I.A., was expected to arrive in Doha, Qatar, this week for talks about achieving a cease-fire in Gaza. But statements by Israeli and Hamas officials in recent days suggested that a breakthrough was still elusive. One of the biggest gaps between Israel and Hamas has been over whether a cease-fire deal would lead to a lasting truce. Mr. Biden said Israel’s proposal would ultimately lead to the “cessation of hostilities permanently,” comments that were welcomed by Hamas. Israel, Mr. Hamdan said, was interested in only a temporary cease-fire to free hostages, and would then resume the war.

CNN —Israel’s Supreme Court on Wednesday will for the first time discuss the closure of the desert detention camp of Sde Teiman where Palestinian detainees from Gaza have allegedly been held under conditions of extreme abuse. The committee tasked with examining the conditions of Palestinian detainees from Gaza is set to submit its recommendations to Halevi this month. Three Israeli whistleblowers told CNN that Palestinian detainees at the facility were constantly blindfolded and held under extreme physical restraint. The account tallied with details of a letter authored by a doctor working at Sde Teiman published by Ha’aretz in April. Nvidia is set to make a 10-for-one forward stock split on June 7, which means your one share will become 10 shares. A stock split won't change a company's economic value or the value you hold of it. It only changes the proportionate amount of ownership that each share represents, says Dave Sekera, Morningstar's chief US market strategist. After the stock split, its fair value would go to $105, Sekera noted. One notable impact that could result from a lower share price is Nvidia's increased potential of being included in price-weighted indexes, specifically the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
