Don’t Play With Your Kids. Seriously.

My baby went through the hall closet, describing the shoes in a babble that was only one-eighth English. I have three kids under 10 who don’t expect — or even want — to play with me. The constant wrangling and vigilance were so exhausting that my husband and I didn’t have the energy to play the way my son preferred — anything that involved full-body contact or pretend violence. But when my son was about 3, I realized his fictive worlds were vivid enough to continue without me. Thus began an experiment with expectation: Little by little, my husband and I would stretch the time our son could safely play by himself.

But the minute I had a chance to get vaccinated in early March, I took it. Fast forward a few months and … turns out a lot of people need to be convinced or lobbied or bribed. I’m sure you’ve seen the “Price Is Right” Showcase Showdown-like incentives being dangled to get reluctant people vaccinated lately. And props to the states enrolling previously vaccinated people like me into their lotteries, raffles and giveaways; we early adopters appreciate the recognition. More sustainable euro zone inflation coming: ECB's Knot
  + stars: | 2021-06-11 | by ( Reuters Staff | ) www.reuters.com sentiment -0.97   time to read: +2 min
FRANKFURT (Reuters) -Copious budget spending in the euro zone is finally generating a sustainable rise in inflation but more flexible fiscal rules will be needed for years as monetary policy remains constrained, European Central Bank policymaker Klaas Knot said on Friday. “Now we are in a better position to see a sustainable increase in inflationary pressures,” Knot said in a university lecture. Instead of reverting to old budget rules that could once again overburden the ECB after the pandemic, Knot argued for an overhaul of the Stability and Growth Pact to give governments more flexibility to spend outside crises. “Fiscal flexibility is needed and has to be an integral feature of the framework, rather than an all-or-nothing button which may, or may not, be pressed in an emergency,” Knot added. “We should not be left thinking that this huge stack of public debt that the European Central Bank currently has on its balance sheet will sit there forever,” he added.

Particularly coming out of World War II, the Soviet Union and the United States were the global leaders in vaccine science. So while the technology was developed in the United States, there just was no way to test this in the United States. And they visited with American scientists and asked for a sample of this new polio vaccine to bring back to the Soviet Union. And the live polio vaccine sample was carried to the Soviet Union by one account in the pocket of Mikhail Chumakov. And they decide that they will provide the live polio vaccine to their own young children on sugar cubes.

Biden offered: “Possibilities.”“Personal relationships are the only vehicle by which you build trust,” Biden told Xi two years later when he returned for more meetings in Beijing. There’s a risk, though, of focusing on the personal at the expense of the substance. But Biden has often told the story of his last-known face-to-face meeting with Putin, telling him bluntly that he “has no soul.”“We understand each other,” Biden says Putin replied.

Despite the agitated millennials on TikTok defending their side parts and skinny jeans from perceived insults, skinny jeans remain a best-selling style. We’ve arrived at a place where a new season doesn’t usher in an accompanying new silhouette. Instead, the dominant way of consuming fashion now is through niche aesthetics like cottagecore, none superior to any other. “Historically, in these moments of disruption, there is a lot of confusion in the fashion world,” said Justine De Young, a professor of art and fashion history at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Banks have been holding that cash ever since, and because companies are reluctant to borrow from them, they can’t turn it into income-generating loans. Companies flooded U.S. banks with deposits at the start of the pandemic. High deposits usually aren’t a bad thing for banks, as long as they can use the money to make loans. Since then, some banks have warned the growing deposits could force them to raise more capital, or say no to deposits. In recent months, banks including BNY Mellon have focused on moving clients from deposits into money-market funds, which are common cash-like investments.
