NEW YORK (AP) — Joyce Randolph, a veteran stage and television actress whose role as the savvy Trixie Norton on “The Honeymooners” provided the perfect foil to her dimwitted TV husband, has died. Randolph died of natural causes Saturday night at her home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, her son Randolph Charles told The Associated Press Sunday. Randolph would later cite a handful of favorite episodes, including one in which Ed is sleepwalking. She’s too well-known as Trixie,’” Randolph told the Orlando Sentinel in 1993. Gleason died in 1987 at age 71, followed by Meadows in 1996 and Carney in 2003.

In 2022, Maury McIntyre, president and CEO of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which puts on the Emmy Awards, was looking for a chief of staff. Initially, he thought someone who'd worked in a similar role before would be the right fit. Curry had been teaching choreography at private schools and though her background wasn't quite what McIntyre had been looking for, she had "the most kick-ass cover letter I've ever read." The Television Academy hired her soon thereafter and she's been working there ever since. Emmy organizers are hopeful that would give the Hollywood studios enough time to settle the labor disputes. Bob McGrath, an actor and recording artist who became a generational icon as one of the original human stars of “Sesame Street,” died Sunday. McGrath’s death was confirmed by his family members through a post on his Facebook page: “The McGrath family has some sad news to share. He played the friendly neighbor Bob Johnson, a “Sesame Street” mainstay across five decades and 47 seasons of broadcast television. In 1969, McGrath stepped into his signature role on “Sesame Street,” which was a pop culture force from its debut on the then-fledging PBS network in November 1969. McGrath was indelibly associated with “Sesame Street” for the rest of his career.

CNN —Awards season has barely begun, and one of the stars of streaming’s most decorated shows is weighing in on the debate over whether legacy awards shows such as the Oscars, Emmys and BAFTAs should fuse their gendered acting categories to avoid a binary system. Now, “it’s difficult for me at the moment trying to justify in my head being non-binary and being nominated in female categories,” they said. Around the same time as Dillon’s exchange with the Academy, MTV announced they were doing away with gendered categories for its MTV Movie and TV Awards. The Grammys also got rid of gender-based categories in 2011, as part of a large-scale overhaul of the legacy music awards event. Other awards to more recently update their categories to exclude a gender binary include the Spirit Awards and the Canadian Screen Awards, both of which made the change this year.

CNN —John Aniston, a veteran actor known for his work on the daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” has died, his daughter, actress Jennifer Aniston, shared on Monday. You always had perfect timing,” Jennifer Aniston wrote in a statement shared on Instagram. Before he became a soap star, Aniston served in the US Navy and appeared in an off-Broadway musical, Soap Opera Digest reported. “I tell everybody who wants to be an actor, don’t be an actor, be something else. News alongside his daughter, Aniston offered both fatherly praise and sobering guidance: “Jennifer is a natural talent,” he said to his daughter’s embarrassment, but reminded her that talent doesn’t always result in a long career.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Angela Lansbury," according to statement by Actors' Equity, the union representing live stage performers. "A star of stage, TV and movies, Lansbury was an Equity member for an astounding 65 years. Angela Lansbury stars as mystery writer and crime solver Jessica Fletcher on the CBS television crime drama series "Murder, She Wrote" in 1990. The TV academy nominated Lansbury for 12 Emmys for “Murder,” although she never took home the trophy. Edgar Lansbury was mayor of the London borough of Poplar, while George Lansbury served as Labour Party leader in 1932-34.
