Air France announced it will offer free ultra-high-speed WiFi via Elon Musk's Starlink from 2025. Air France announced that from 2025, it will offer ultra-high-speed WiFi free of charge to customers in every cabin. Musk celebrated the deal in a post on X, replying to Air France's post by saying: "Air France is installing Starlink!" The announcement comes just two weeks after United Airlines also confirmed it was signing up to become a Starlink customer. Alaska Airlines said on Wednesday it had completed its $1.9 billion acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines after reaching an agreement with the U.S. Department of Transportation. The airlines on Tuesday agreed to maintain key Hawaiian routes and adopt consumer protections under an agreement that will last six years. The Justice Department in August chose not to block the deal that was announced in December by Alaska, the fifth-largest domestic U.S. airline, to merge with Hawaiian, the 10th-largest carrier. Alaska CEO Ben Minicucci said in an interview that the deal would be good for competition and consumers and would expand access for consumers to both networks and give Alaska access to Hawaiian’s fleet of wide-body airplanes. Hawaiian Airlines’ stock will be de-listed and will cease trading on the Nasdaq on Wednesday, Alaska said in a statement.

The planemaker said it is collaborating with producer HIF Global on the development of methane-based fuels, and investing in alcohol-to-jet fuel producer LanzaJet. The typical airline passenger probably never thinks about the economics of frequent flyer programs, but the programs have become crucial for airlines to generate the profits needed to stay afloat. The outage “has basically turned computers into bricks around the world,” Glenn Gerstell, former general counsel of the US National Security Agency, told CNN Saturday. More than 400 United flights were canceled Saturday, and over 200 flights were canceled Sunday, according to FlightAware.com. “I was supposed to be in California for my mom’s wedding,” Richard Whitfield of Pasco County, Florida, told CNN Saturday. CNN —All flights from several major US airlines – including Delta, United and American Airlines – were grounded Friday morning due to a communication issue, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The ground stop impacts all flights from the airlines, regardless of their destination, said the FAA. It’s unclear how long the ground stop will last, though the FAA suggested an update would be available by 5 a.m. Their grounding comes after a significant Microsoft outage brought Frontier Airlines to a standstill for hours on Thursday – though the ground stop for those airlines has since been lifted. The FAA also announced Friday morning all Allegiant flights would be grounded.
