It also accuses the company of retaliation after it allegedly sidelined Napoli and took him off big projects when he raised concerns that the person had been rehired. Before the layoffs, G.F. and Napoli occasionally saw each other in meetings but were no more than "work acquaintances," Napoli said. But just four months later, the company hired G.F. back to a contractor position after he apparently slipped through the cracks in the hiring process, the lawsuit says. Napoli learned his accused stalker was back at Meta when G.F.'s name popped up on Workplace, the company's internal messaging system.

Alain Jocard | AFP | Getty ImagesThis report is from today's CNBC Daily Open, our international markets newsletter. CNBC Daily Open brings investors up to speed on everything they need to know, no matter where they are. This valuation, however, wouldn't be based on Tesla's success as an electric vehicle manufacturer, but rather as a robotics company. While Musk didn't provide a specific timeframe for this claim, he also suggested Tesla could reach a $5 trillion to $7 trillion valuation as a robotaxi company. In 2020, Tesla's worth even surpassed the combined value of Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, GM, Ford and BMW.

Why can’t we stop calling X, Twitter?

While some people (mainly fans of Musk) have embraced the X brand, most have not. Many people, both online and in person, still call the platform Twitter, and refer to posts as tweets. WHY ARE WE STILL CALLING THIS PLATFORM TWITTER. Even when you do see X, it's framed as "X, formerly Twitter". So the brand is what they say it is… it’s not that customers can’t stop calling it Twitter, it’s that they won’t.”

Tesla has received a special order from federal automotive safety regulators requiring the company to provide extensive data about its driver assistance and driver monitoring systems, and a once secret configuration for these known as "Elon mode." If the driver leaves the steering wheel unattended for too long, the "nag" escalates to a beeping noise. As CNBC previously reported, with the "Elon mode" configuration enabled, Tesla can allow a driver to use the company's Autopilot, FSD or FSD Beta systems without the so-called "nag." Tesla CEO Elon Musk who also owns and runs the social network X, formerly Twitter, often implies Tesla vehicles are self-driving. His use of Tesla's systems would likely comprise a violation of the company's own terms of use for Autopilot, FSD and FSD Beta, according to Greg Lindsay, an Urban Tech fellow at Cornell.

Some analysts have likened the relationship to the tale of "Goldilocks" in which a middle ground is sought, with China wanting its ally Russia to not be either too strong, where it could challenge Beijing, nor too weak where it leaves China ideologically isolated against the West. It could also be seen to embolden the West and cause political instability in Russia, essentially China's backyard. "China, like many Europeans, will also want to avoid a total collapse of Russia, with the nuclear proliferation risks that might pose. China is seen by international observers as being one of the few countries that could exert its influence on Russia in bringing about an end to the war in Ukraine. "There is no way actually for China to make Russia stronger without jeopardizing Chinese interests," he told CNBC.

Musk, who in addition to Tesla also holds senior leadership roles at X, SpaceX and Neuralink, added that he will know more this week. If Musk ultimately requires surgery, his condition could at least temporarily take some of his attention away from his multiple executive roles. Amazon on Wednesday offered commitments to the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority after Britain's competition watchdog raised concerns about the U.S. e-commerce giant's treatment of third-party sellers. One of those commitments proposes to ensure Amazon does not use rival sellers' marketplace data to gain an unfair advantage over other sellers. Amazon's commitments also proposed to guarantee all product offers are treated equally when the company decides which ones will be featured in the "Buy Box." Amazon's marketplace practices were also concerning to European Union regulators that were probing similar issues to the U.K. since 2019. In December, Amazon offered similar commitments to the European Commission, the EU's executive arm, to address its concerns.

"Need to reach positive cash flow before we have the luxury of anything else," Musk wrote in response to a tweet. Musk took over Twitter in October of last year in a deal valued at around $44 billion, including about $13 billion in debt. He also claimed at that time that the company was "roughly breakeven," and expected to become cash flow positive within the next quarter. A number of widely followed accounts on Twitter posted that they were dismayed they did not qualify to earn income from the program yet. It's not clear how much Twitter paid creators in total in this first round of payments.

Angel Garcia | Bloomberg | Getty ImagesThe United States' Inflation Reduction Act represents a "turning point" when it comes to the economics of technologies such as renewables and hydrogen, according to Goldman Sachs . "The exception — and I think this is where there could be green shoot[s] — is the Inflation Reduction Act in the U.S.," he added. "It finally makes technologies like green hydrogen, local green battery production [and] carbon capture, profitable in large scale," he added. If the electricity used in this process comes from a renewable source such as wind or solar then some call it "green" or "renewable" hydrogen. The vast majority of hydrogen generation is still based on fossil fuels, but there is a huge amount of interest in the role green hydrogen could play going forward.
Newport Wafer sits in the middle of the semiconductor supply chain that transforms logs of silicon into circular wafers that eventually get cut into chips. The U.K. government said a Chinese-owned company must unwind its acquisition of a British computer-chip factory more than a year after the takeover was completed, saying the deal posed a risk to national security. In a decision published late Wednesday, the U.K. ordered Nexperia BV—a Dutch subsidiary of China’s Wingtech Technology Co.—to sell at least 86% of Newport Wafer Fab , a manufacturing facility in Wales.
No China is no fix for Britain’s industrial woes

LONDON, Nov 17 (Reuters Breakingviews) - The British government has blocked the sale of a silicon wafer factory in Wales to a subsidiary of China’s Wingtech Technology (600745.SS). It’s a sign of the growing wariness among western governments of the risks involved in Chinese investment. The decision to force Netherlands-based Nexperia to sell most of its stake in the Newport Wafer Fab business isn’t illogical. The plant makes basic silicon wafers, used in chips for switches in domestic appliances such as vacuum cleaners.
