Wall Street wrapped up another positive week, with the S & P 500 closing Friday above 5,000 for the first time ever. It was a pretty light week in terms of economic data releases, though we did get a favorable ISM Services number on Monday. Things will pick up next week with several closely watched macroeconomic updates, including two key government inflation reports. While no Club earnings are scheduled to report earnings in the week ahead, 61 companies in the S & P 500 will deliver their latest quarterly results. Consumer inflation: The main event of the week will come on Tuesday when the January consumer price index (CPI) is released.

The company expects to incur about $25 million to $35 million associated with the restructuring in the last three months of 2023. Earlier this year, Twilio cut 17% of its staff and closed some of its offices.

San Francisco-based Twilio expects fourth-quarter adjusted profit between $0.53 per share and $0.57 per share, compared with analysts' estimates of $0.36, according to LSEG data. The company's active customer accounts in the third quarter rose to 306,000 from 280,000 a year earlier. On an adjusted basis, Twilio earned $0.58 per share, compared with estimates of $0.35 per share.

Two firms specializing in artificial intelligence — UiPath and Twilio — are being underappreciated by investors, according to Frank Downing of Ark Investments. UiPath, a business process automation firm, is one of the companies that Downing views as overlooked. ARKW 1Y line He thinks this could mean fewer manual human interventions, substantially improving efficiency at UiPath for its customers. PATH 1Y line Twilio Twilio, a cloud communications platform founded in 2008, was also flagged by Downing as a potentially undervalued stock. May 30 (Reuters) - Activist investor Legion Partners has met Twilio Inc (TWLO.N) officials several times, urging the cloud computing company to make changes to its board and consider divestitures, The Information reported on Tuesday. A spokesperson for Legion confirmed to Reuters that it has been in dialogue with Twilio, adding the hedge fund is hopeful that "significant action" will be taken. Twilio's use of supervoting shares, which give Chief Executive Jeff Lawson a near 22% voting stake, is set to expire in less than a month, according to The Information report. Shares in Twilio jumped about 5% after the report. The company in February had said it was eliminating about 17% of its workforce and closing some offices to improve profitability.

Twilio forecasts weak second-quarter revenue, shares slip

May 9 (Reuters) - Twilio Inc (TWLO.N) on Tuesday forecast second-quarter revenue below estimates on shrinking demand for cloud services, sending the company's shares tumbling nearly 13% in extended trading. It expects second-quarter revenue in the range of $980 million to $990 million, compared with analysts' average estimate of $1.05 billion, as per Refinitiv data. However, it reported a rise in active customer accounts, more than 300,000 in the first quarter ended March 31, 2023, compared with over 268,000 a year earlier. It reported adjusted net income of $0.47 per share, beating analysts' average estimate of $0.21. With only a small fraction of the S & P 500 left to report quarterly earnings, investors are now turning their focus to another major hurdle for the markets and economy: the debt ceiling crisis. Earlier this week, we looked back to debt limit crisis of 2011 for potential lessons. The protracted fight ultimately ended in an agreement in early August of that year, but it was a choppy summertime ride for investors. Within the portfolio, Wynn Resorts will report Tuesday, after the closing bell, and Disney will report on Wednesday, after the closing bell. Estee Lauder (EL) and Emerson Electric (EMR) reported earnings before the opening bell.
Twilio CEO Jeff Lawson bought $10 million worth of his company's stock last week, putting him at the top of the list for insider buying, according to VerityData and securities filings. Twilio, like many other tech stocks, deflated in 2022, and the stock is down about 80% since mid-October 2021. A $10 million buy from Twilio CEO Jeff Lawson on Feb. 24. A nearly $2 million buy from Impinj chairman Steve Sanghi on Feb. 23. On the smaller side, Charles Rivers Labs director Richard Wallman made his second insider buy in three months.

Feb 15 (Reuters) - Twilio Inc (TWLO.N) shares rose 12% in extended trading on Wednesday after the cloud communications platform reported a better-than-expected quarterly revenue and said it would buy back shares worth $1 billion. The company reported a revenue of $1.02 billion for the fourth quarter, compared with analysts' estimates of $1.00 billion, according to Refinitiv data. Feb 13 (Reuters) - Cloud communications company Twilio Inc (TWLO.N) said on Monday it was eliminating about 17% roles and closing some offices as part of a restructuring effort to focus on profitability. Technology firms have laid off thousands of workers recently as they brace for a period of lower demand, high interest rates and macro economic instability. The move, which is the second instance of job cuts in five months, sent the company's share up 2%. Twilio will also reorganize the company into two units, Twilio Communications and Twilio Data and Applications.
