Fanatics founder and CEO Michael Rubin at his office in New York. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's indoor golf league, TGL, has signed a multiyear partnership with e-commerce giant Fanatics. The deal will give Fanatics the rights to design and manufacture league-wide and team-specific merchandise for TGL as the official licensee. Fanatics founder and CEO Michael Rubin made a separate, personal investment in TMRW Sports in April. Fanatics said it will provide a new online store that will allow fans to showcase their passion for the new league and teams.

Financier and Mets owner Steve Cohen has bought the founding rights to the New York team in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's upstart golf league TGL, the organization announced on Thursday. TGL is a new primetime, high-tech golf league that will tee off in January 2024. TGL says the event timing will be complementary to the players' PGA Tour schedules. The PGA Tour and fledgling rival LIV Golf agreed to merge in June, but have yet to sign a final agreement and still face scrutiny from Congress.

The league, whose launch was announced last August, is being billed as a first-of-its-kind experience for golf as each two-hour event will be held on a data-rich, virtual course complete with a tech-infused, short-game complex. Organizers promise a high-energy, greenside fan experience for the short-form version of golf in a coliseum environment with every shot to be shown live on primetime television.
